This one was basically a SG1 episode with different characters...
Ok, in all of the episodes of Stargate SG1/Atlantis, when did they ever refer to "faster than light" travel as FTL? Oh, Jack referred to it as a warp once or twice, but never the words FTL -- which, of course is what they called it on Galactica. Seems like a cheap gimmick to me...
They referred to it most often as hyperspace (same term used in B5), but I agree, the FTL reference does seem like a BSG "rip-off"...
I heard the term hyperspace first in Star Wars.
Lt. Castillo from "Yesterdays Enterprise"Well I can live with Shooter McGavin offing himself to save the ship. But wow, this show really lacks a lot of originality. Even his death is almost spock-like in a ST II kind of way.
I actually like the ending for this episode ...
Typically when you have a count down, they ALWAYS make it just in time ... this time ... they didn't! That was actually a little refreshing ... they found a way around it ... but at least it was different.
Yeah, but that was one helluva risk they were taking. And my gut says that Samantha Carter would never have approved.
Wasn't it just two? The guy and the girl walked through ... the third guy was going to ... but he got shot ...
O'neill did it once (when Maybourne's team of misfits was stealing friendly alien tech), when he stuck his arm into the event horizon to make sure they couldn't go elsewhere while the Asgard were beaming stuff up...I'm sure that was in his report, which I'm sure Sam read... She may not have approved of it, but then again, what other choice did they have but to try it? At least there was a precedent behind it.
How come no one mentioned the loss of the other three members of the crew? I know! Anyone in a field uniform may equal a "red shirt" now!
Okay this show is really getting boring in the second episode. Better pick up quick or I will be deleting this timer.
I have decided that I'll stick with it, using a twist on the old Star Trek saying "even bad trek is good trek"; so even bad Stargate is good Stargate.
