I live in Corpus Christi, TX and understand that I am out of the footprint of the Dish Satellite at 129. It appears that most of the MPEG 4 HD will be coming off of 129. Is there a future for those of us out of the 129 footprint?

I currently have an 811 and want to upgrade to a HD DVR and the 942 looks very good. I expect that Dish will eventually offer some kind of deal to upgrade to the MPEG 4 version, especially since Direct TV has stated that it will offer an upgrade path.

The question is whether I am better going to Direct TV or whether to stick with Dish and see what other options I am offered?

Thanks,

lny

Welcome to satguys :) From what i Have heard so far is that mpg4 will be coming from 110 and 119.. what ever is on 129 will most likely be mirrored on 61.5 (pending rainbow approval) That is all i know.. for now.. :)

If the whole U.S. cannot get 129 then they would be crazy to put all HD there. I would think that it would be at or close to 110 and 119.

6000 reciever will not downconvert HD Pak channels
