Signal problems

Well, this will be my first DIY replacement. I've been on this board for 6 years and learned a lot, but my 722 just worked and I've not had to do anything with it until now. What would be the easiest thing to do to verify that the replacement solves my problem? I don't need to activate the replacement to check connection and signal levels, do I?

I think you'll get into that automatic startup sequence of windows, one of which IIRC is the signal strength. I'd hang on that for awhile and see if it holds steady, and continue to the activation window. I replaced both leased 612's for tuner issues, and my 722 for channel activation/decryption issues. All 3 refurbs came up fine and have been working fine at our place for years.

Got my replacement today. Just to be sure I don't get myself into a support nightmare, at what point should I break out of the installation wizard to check my signal strengths? Before or after the software download? After doing so, how would I get back to the installation process?

I would do it after the download. You can get back to the wizard by turning it off then on again.

Success! I initially read the *#* key sequence as a pound sign in quotes, and I was wondering why nothing happened when I kept pressing the # key.

Signal levels are higher than they've ever been! Looks like I'm good for the next 6 years.

Last thing I checked was my EHD. Still not recognized as being on my account. I'll give it a day and then request a hit, I guess.

Also, DishAnywhere is not seeing my DVR. Says my receiver is not connected, even though I verified on the Network Setup screen that it is.

Would that also require an authorization hit?

Chat wouldn't help without the message ID from the popup. Even though I specifically asked for an authorization hit.

On DishAnywhere, my old receiver is still showing, instead of the new one. Will an authorization hit take care of that as well?
