OK i have no idea what is wrong with my system
I have a ViP 622. I live in the Northeast, about an hour south of Pittsburgh

When my satellite was installed they had to use a flat cable to run through my deck door into the living room. Recently it had been messing up whenever anyone opened the deck door, I would lose satellite till the door was shut again. Or so it seemed.

I changed out the flat cable, and then the rest of the cable from the door to the dish, and I'm only getting satellite 110. So i'm missing most of my channels. When i do a test on my switch it shows up with only the 110 as being OK and doesn't list anything under 2,3,4.

Maybe I need to adjust my dish? what are the transponders that correspond with each satellite? Is there any other reason that I would be able to get channels off of 110 and it doesn't even see the others on my switch or guide?

thanks for any help

If 110 is showing up on PORT 1, then your dish is out of alignment. That's assuming no external switches, just the dish and receiver.

You don't mention what dish and what switch(es) you might have. If you have a 622 chances are you have DHPP. Call and schedule a trouble call. And let the tech drill a hole to run the cable. Flat cables are pieces of s$&%!!

i'm in a place that doesn't allow for drilling, it says specifically in their lease i have to use a flat cable.

however, i took the flat cable out and have two regular cables with a male to male connector, their shittily installed doors allows me to close it with the cable still going through right now haha..

if anyone knows what transponder matches up with each satellite i can try to realign my dish if you think that is the cause.

another problem living here is they dont allow any holes drilled period, so the dish was installed in a bucket with concrete sitting on my deck (im on 3rd story), so in strong storms in slightly moves and i've luckily moved in before when it went out... but i dont seem to be so lucky this time that i can just wiggle it to the right and fix it, if you can give me transponder/satellite pairings i can try to point it better?

but just so i'm clear, the consensus is that its out of alignment since i'm atleast getting the 110 channels, not that my receiver or dish is somehow broke?

You are out of alignment if 110 is coming in on port 1. Just to make sure, you can disconnect the line to the dish, run a switch test and save the new result. That should clear the switch matrix and you can then connect the wire and run a new test. If this new test shows 110 on port 1, then your dish is out of alignment.

If that's the case, you can align by going to 119 TP 11. To make sure you get it through the correct eye, toss a baseball cap or t-shirt over the two outer eyes. That way, when you do get 119, you know it is from the correct center eye. Take your time moving that dish, its probably only a few inches off at best.
