Shanahan Out In Denver

Detroit is at rock bottom, they cant help but go up as long as they do not make drafting busts.

Oh no sir, plenty of room to keep sinking, especially after seeing whom Ford put in charge. 1-23 in our current streak, and after looking at the schedule 1-30 is definitely within reach. The stupidest hiring they could make right now would be to hire Garret from Dallas, which is surely what will happen. I can count the intelligent decisions this franchise has made in 51 years on one hand. No reason to think the "better idea" light bulb has gone on yet. This isn't Miami or Atlanta, no one-season turnarounds happening here. Drafting busts? They can't help themselves, bad drafting is what got us here.

This will be interesting, usually when you look at the Lions schedule, they have a few , should be , wins in the first 5, the NFL doesn't want ANY teams starting out 0 for too many.
Well see with next years schedule.

you can bet they'll get the softest schedule possible.

WOW! We all thought Shanahan was anointed for life, and Bowlen would never do this. We (fans) were just hoping for him to be relieved as VP and to get yet another Defensive Coordinator. He's 24-24 with no playoffs over the past 3 years. Those 2 Super Bowls were 10 & 11 years ago, and just don't hold weight anymore. That plus only 3 playoffs since then, with 1 win...

I agree that I was shocked - and also thought he was a lifer, but while I concur with my wife who said "can you imagine the broncos without Shanahan on the sideline?" I think it was time.

Still, I will miss him, inspite of the drought of this decade, to me he will always be coach of the Denver Broncos.

I can't help but chuckle sorry, you might be right.

Paul,
I heard tonight that the Lions WILL talk with Shanahan about the coaching job ....

He'll probably decline or maybe just chuckle if he goes ... NO WAY is he coaching in Detroit.

no one in their right mind would go to that scum of a city on their own will.

It's one thing to make fun of a team, but a city?

I may despise the Giants as a team, but I would never mock New York as a place.

This is between me and Matt, we get on each others teams, fans and cities but we agreed not to go after each others friends, families or personally.

So next time you want to poke your nose into what we are doing, ask yourself if Matt would do the same.

It's all in good fun between us, it's a Pittsburgh/Cleveland thing, you wouldn't understand being a fan of Buffalo, you really don't have a rival like we do.

I would. No way would I ever live in either place. I do not even have a desire to visit.

You can't knock Cleveland or Pitt for that matter if you haven't lived here, visited here or been a part of the culture. I'm sure wherever you live (Newport News, VA??) is such a wonderful place to live , but I also just about guarantee it doesn't even come close to having the same character that Cleveland has.

Remember one thing son..... CLEVELAND ROCKS! And there isn't another city in the world I would rather be right now.

Detroit sucks! I live smack in the middle of Detroit in Hamtramck, an area we call affectionately the DMZ. Our suburbs are really nice, but Detroit proper is a hell-hole. (Except for downtown). The funny thing is that Cleveland and Pittsburgh used to be mentioned in the same breathe as us. I've been to both of those cities on more than one occasion, and I would rather live there, than in Detroit. This city is going along the same route our football (cough) team is going. Circling the drain.
