MLB forms economic group as regional TV in peril

WBD brand of RSN is "AT&T Sportsnet".
There's no association with AT&T, Inc. as these were part of the WarnerMedia spin-off.

I think this is probably a matter of not thinking far enough ahead to do a proper re-brand. HBO Sports actually had a pretty respectable reputation in days gone by but Warner has apparently recognized that HBO doesn't mean much anymore.

I'm guessing that WBD was hoping to sell them off only to find that RSNs are a little toxic (from a business standpoint) nowadays.

The math for Comcast/NBC is really no different than it is for Sinclair or WBD (AT&T). Unbundling has killed this genre of entertainment, the first of many genres to go away.

The RSN will die more slowly in big markets, and Comcast has way less debt, but the direction is the same. Comcast has just big cities, but the direction is still downward. It sold the Washington version last year, it gets renamed before next season. With the A's going to Las Vegas, it just has a full set in San Francisco and Philadelphia, along with the NBA only in Boston.
Dude, unbundled? How about cable sucking? We've seen two thing since the last 25 years. Programming has transitioned from niche with budgets (Bravo, TLC, Science, etc...) to lowest common denominator garbage. There was expansion of decent programming to cable as well, but generally non-premium networks generally holding to one or two shows.

Programming quality overall has plummeted over the last couple of decades.

That what happens when 3 or 4 companies consolidate the cable channels..once upon a time..channels like the weather channel were independent companies...they actually showed weather..when they made a profit..big nasty corporations bought them up..then they maximized profits and destroyed them

How does consolidation support the "unbundling" that SamCdbs was going on about? It sounds like a polar opposite.
I see it as more reasons we need to enforce Antitrust laws! We used to do it all the time 50 years ago. That would change a lot.

and network neutrality +
with an ban on caps unless the ISP can have something like an state certified power meter at your HOME

What will having a power meter accomplish?
Joe the Dragon was obviously speaking of a Broadband equivalent of a monitoring power meter.

The FCC used to engage in this by sending out custom routers to volunteer broadband subscribers so they could measure various metrics and automatically report back.

You don't need that...it doesn't prove anything except the path back to the first router...if its fiber..its a ridiculous test

How else are you going to measure the performance parameters if you don't have something operating at the gateway level?

You absolutely do need something between the customer and the Internet and it can't be something that has to be installed on individual devices.

Not sure what you are talking about..
Must be some old school satellite talk..the best way to determine performance for an ISP would be a speedtest via a website...there really are no physical layer parameters to measure with fiber that would not show up on a sophisticated speed test...besides most congestion happens after the gateway router

That's never bothered you before.

If you want to spend your days running speedtests with various endpoints, that's your business. An inline solution doesn't require that scripts be written and run and it doesn't suffer from speedtest tailoring algorithms (burst mode). It uses your everyday activity to give a broad picture of your overall broadband service.

not talking about speed tests.
Talking about billing for data used if done needs to be done the same way use are billed for power usage

Who in their right mind would ever contemplate the insanity of making residential broadband service traffic sensitive? What little 'net neutrality we enjoy would seem to preclude that stupidity.

No..no..no...cable sells UP TO 1 gig or UP TO 500 meg..etc etc etc .its shared bandwidth..there is no promised bandwidth...you may get those speeds at certain times but not all the time
