Senators Send Letter To NFL

And all of this is because New England's chance at history was put on the schedule over eight months ago on Saturday, 29 December. Which means over eight months ago the only way you'd be able to see the game outside of New York and New England was through the NFL Network.

So I am still trying to understand the complaints with two weeks to go (now 5 days to go).

I don't think that the discontent is over a single game. We do hear more about it when such a game rolls around but the concern is broader than that.

But a large chunk of the concern comes also from Leahy, in the Vermont area, which will not get a local carrier for the NFL Network game.

The acutal complaint should be why none of the cable companies want to sign up for it. But there needs to be realization that lawmakers do have a stake in this fight, as they are the ones that granted the de-facto pro football monopoly 40 years ago. As matter of fact, the lawmakers are the ones that granted the NFL the right to bargain the television contract for all teams in the league.

However, if this fight is because the games are available on NFL Network, as opposed to say, Versus or ESPN, we wouldn't be having this issue.

And with that, I've received word that the NFL Network, CBS and NBC will simulcast the NE/NYT game.

Sounds like the NFL is listening to the lawmakers.

After "60 Minutes" expose on Tom Brady, I have new respect for him...
