SatelliteGuys.US DishNetwork Uplink Activity Discussion - Week Ending 11/17/2007

It actually looks like it will be a reduction in the national HD carrying capacity of Dish. 4 TPs are being used now for HD LiL. The map posted showed 1,3,5,7,9,11,13 & 15 in spot beams. This means 4 more TPs will be dedicated to locals, they will not then be available for national HD.

More than 4 TPs will free up from the removal of Sky Angel and the international channels. But 4 TPs represents up to 24 HD feeds that could have gone national will now go local.

Dont forget that Echostar is also getting ready to split up. Dish could be dumping everything off of 61.5 in order to comply with the terms of the split.

Per the information in the FCC Filing
Corporation as a result of this transaction:
• authority to operate 30 DBS channels at 61.5° W.L. over the EchoStar III and
EchoStar XII satellites,3 and Special Temporary Authority to operate two unassigned
channels at 61.5º W.L. on the EchoStar XII satellite.4
• authority to operate a DBS satellite at 86.5° W.L.5
• authority to operate FSS satellites at 97° W.L. (Ka-band),6 113° W.L. (Ka-band),7 and
at 121° W.L. (EchoStar IX, Ku- and Ka-bands).8
• blanket authority to serve the United States from EchoStar 4, a satellite licensed by
Mexico to QuetzSat, S De R.L. De C.V. and located at 77º W.L.9
• authority for uplink assets, including earth station licenses and certain associated
ground station licenses.10
• licenses for wireless and broadband assets, including 1.4 GHz wireless radio licenses
held by Port L.L.C.
The remaining FCC licenses and authorizations will be retained by ECC to be used in the
delivery of the DISH Network DBS service.

Nope. You're missing a character on the spotbeam.

Doesn't seems to me.
What we have up there ?

Now the question - what the first letter '1' telling us ?
Uplink number or just first digit of SB ?
You drop it qickly from reports, but the SB could be numbered as "11" ..."19".

Yes, we get 61.5 here in Indy. But who knows if they'll add our HD locals. I'm not holding my breath, since they were uplinked for a long time a while back but never made available and eventually downlinked (is that a word?).

Don't know why they were never made available. Maybe negotiations fell through, or something.

Don't hold your breath on the HD Indy locals. When they were up, it was on 118.7, and to get 61.5 you have to have a wing dish, which most people do not have. My bet is that Indy will never go up! The programing directors @ two indy stations told me that they and Dish could not agree on $$$.

Dont forget that Echostar is also getting ready to split up. Dish could be dumping everything off of 61.5 in order to comply with the terms of the split.

Per the information in the FCC Filing

This sounds like the mpeg 4 service that CHarlie said that they would launch next year. Especially the 86.5 and 97 slots. I didn't know that 61.5 sat would be NOT included with DISH, if they split the company into two parts. I guess they will use 61.5 and 77 in a dual slots similar to 86.5 and 97 -all received on one 18 inch sat dish. I wonder if the new mpeg 4 service will now remain part of DISH or will be a new service that CHarlie will offer once they sell off DISH to another buyer? I for one hope that we can use our existing DISH receivers with the new service if that is offered. I would love to have everthing in full mpeg 4 as it would hopefully be in better picture quality.

Hmm, it seems Dish wants to spotbeam 61.5, so I hope that's what Dish is going to do with 148.

It also looks like Dish is taking away unnecessary bandwidth, by remove the Pirate TV channels.

Maybe there's another reason why Dish is removing the Pirate TV channels (maybe Dish is admitting defeat over the hackers, because Dish probably knows, now that HD is "open").

hey whats this:
9945 - DVRDN moved from EchoStar8 110W TP 02 ConUS beam to EchoStar8 110W TP 10 ConUS beam (NA)
9946 - DVRVR moved from EchoStar8 110W TP 02 ConUS beam to EchoStar8 110W TP 10 ConUS beam (NA)

also any of you guys see on south park last night? they had a order hbo and cinemax and find out about how to get dish hd free for 6 months, and it didnt say new customers only, when i called the dish number, they had a prompt about it, when i pushed it, the indian call center woman didnt know anything about it :(

First digit has always been satellite location when referencing actual channels. 1 = 61.5w

While I'm agree with the '1' for 61.5W, tell me about 119W TIDs naming applying to 119W SBs.

Any idea what that new additional numbers means ? I feel here is scrambled info about SBs.

At quick glance it looks like the only thing left on 110 T24 is an ALT of ESPN and the Big10 SD ALT's and some SKDL channels.

If they can find space to move them then 110 T24 is completely open for 6 more HD channels :)

Just got my 625 today. Question about the remote...
