I live in Central Pennsylvania. With my zip code, Dish says I am eligible to receive MASN, Comcast SportsNet Mid Atlantic, and Big Ten Network. If I punch in my zip code with DirecTV, however, it says I am eligible to receive all those channels PLUS Root Sports Pittsburgh.

Right now, I subscribe to the Sports Pack on Dish so that I can receive Root Sports Pittsburgh. The Pirates and Penguins games come in fine, as we are considered "home territory" for those teams.

My question is why do I have to subscribe to the Sports Pack with Dish to get Root Sports when I could get it for the regular price with DirecTV?

Anyone know?

There have been some posts about subscribers suddenly getting Root Sports in their package. Maybe you don't need the extra package.

I made that thread. Here in Buffalo, we are now getting Root Sports minus the Penguins and Pirates games. I still don't see the point of having this channel in Buffalo outside of the Sports Pak.

primetime anytime feature “appeared” to record, but didn’t …
