RR Lightning should be in ALL areas of CFL by August. Some areas are already upgraded, and they are adding more each week, with an expected completion date by August.

How does thins really give me anything? It is still a shared bandwidth so brighthouse could just put twice as many homes on the circuit to share the 40MBIT service as what they put on the 20 Mbit service. I may get added performance at 2AM but.....

Sure its shared, But your sharing a pretty big pipe. BHN-CFL also has active network monitoring they looks for areas where there is not enough bandwidth and makes changes to keep utilization down. Utilization is something constantly monitored and steps to make sure there is enough bandwidth when you need it are constantly made. Most people do not even notice the problem because changes are made before they get bad enough to effect customers.

With Lightning it will be running on Wide Band (The marketing name for channel bonding) Which has a huge pipe, and could provide customers speeds WAY above 200mbit.

BHN is also giving each node its own port, whereas in the past it could of been shared by up to 4 nodes. This greatly reduces the customer per port ratio which greatly increases the available bandwidth per customer. In the past this was only done as needed, you know in the busy nodes. Now its being done everywhere (except nodes where there is a tiny traffic amount like say downtown where maybe 20modems in a high rise business building are)

I keep having to try to explain to people that things are much different then they were several years ago. I have RR lightning in tampa (have had it for a few months) and I always have 37mb and up and im in a huge aparment complex.

New problem!

Every time the SMC modem/router looses power or connection with the home office, it assigns a 192.168.100.2 to my router when it first comes back on. I ALWAYS have to connect to my router to release the wan ip address and renew it. Then everything is fine until the next power glitch or disconnect from the home office.

Basically it looks like the SMC boots up in router mode, assigns an internal IP address to the connected device, completes reloading the data from the home office and puts itself in bridge mode. However, since my router was handed the 192.168.100.2 it does not ask for a new ip and waits until I can reset it.

I going back to the old plan RR turbo.

The insider seems a bit more knowledgeable then I am about that sort of thing, your modem has been put in bridge mode right? I havent heard of that problem with any other modems and have seen plenty using there own routers.

I downgraded to 20mbps turbo service and everything is back to normal again. I don't have to log into my router every time the power glitches to renew it's WAN IP address.

If BHN ever corrects the problem, I may upgrade to the lightning service.

turbo is still fast, I have seen 31mpbs out of it at 630pm in the afternoon

Im still surprised to see your having an issue with the lightning. They also now have a different modem there using, I believe its a motorola, maybe give that one a shot? I havent even seen one yet but I know there out there.

Anybody know how the rollout is going? I signed up as soon as the site went online and all the emails telling me it's coming soon are getting a tad bit annoying. It's been over 4 months now. I live in Palm Bay and haven't heard a word. I did have crews putting new cable in for Brighthouse in my neighborhood the last few weeks. Hopefully, it will be here soon

There arent any new cable upgrades for the lightning system. That must have just been replacing bad stuff. As far as when its coming, I have no idea, its been out here in tampa for a while now.. Sure is nice

on the 20Mbps speeds, did they take out the "boost" on that package? (tampa bay area)
