RCA 751R yagi outdoor antenna

Yeah boba
I saved money by not buying that winegard 200 preamp and for at most - 1 or 2 more channels
Was not worth the 37 dollars
Amazon charged. But I made one
Major screw up,I miss calculated
The rg6 coax I would need I thought
That 30 feet was enough relooking
Now I see I was off I should have bought 100 ft instead to play it safe

Do you have any experience putting ends on cables? If not search for a You Tube for installing COMPRESSION FITTINGS
You will need cable clamps to anchor the cable to your siding about every 12-18". What is your siding made of Masonite or concrete?
Is the house prewired for cable or are you starting from scratch?
You should mount as high up on the chimney as possible and not over the vent, you don't want to melt plastic connectors or jacket on cable.

How are you doing on the original 5min. install from You Tube? LOL

I would not encourage someone with so little experience in these matters to cut the coax cable and put on a new end. He could look for some way to get the cable with the factory installed end connector into the house or as a last resort drill a hole through the wall large enough to get the end connector through and then fill it with an appropriate material.

I hope the borrowed ladder is an extension rather than a step ladder. You want to lean it against the chimney below the top but high enough that you can work at the top. You will need about 3 inch long lag bolts to go through the trim, the siding then finally into the 2x4 at the corners.

I just talked to my roomate told him what u just posted lol, he open up a box and showed me he already went and bought them lol

I haven't seen anything mentioned so far about grounding the coax before it enters the house but if you are mounting the antenna outside it should be done to meet code and for safety and insurance purposes (you don't want to burn your house down and insurance can reject claims if it's not installed properly). Install a grounding block with drip loop before the coax enters your home. Ideally the antenna would be installed in a location where you can easily bond it to the home's outside electrical ground (near the meter) but be VERY CAREFUL however when working anywhere near the wires that feed the home's electricity as there is a SERIOUS RISK OF ELECTROCUTION OR DEATH. Read up on and study antenna grounding methods. If you are at all unsure or feel the least bit uncomfortable PLEASE find someone who is qualified to do the work. It's not worth the risk of injuring or killing yourself or someone else! Another thought - if the antenna is small enough and you can get a good signal - many people mount their antennas inside their home - perhaps in a closet, spare room, attic, etc - basically anywhere convenient. This would avoid the need for grounding as it is not outside and subject to lightning strikes. :)

It is not my house
I am renting a room
My roomate owns the house

I hope you can now appreciate that it isn't always as easy as the video makes it look. Many key details were left out (most all of which you ended up posting multiple questions about).

There are other far more detailed videos available on YouTube and you might do well to check them out.

Here's one that may be helpful:

Note that the mast used in the Solid Signal video was NOT suitable for the application as it didn't clear the eave (the mast wasn't truly vertical as it should be).

Look for videos that talk about how to deal with lap siding (since getting the foot flat against the wall may not be possible).

The time for tallying results is when the antenna is mounted. The outlook it excellent but the job isn't done yet.

Note that it isn't necessary to post a picture with every post; especially if you're already posted more or less the same picture multiple times.

There are many more questions that would be nice to have answers for.
WHERE are the TV's located
Do you have cabling in place or is new cabling needed?
Is the cabling going to be run on the exterior?
Are you going to buy cables with ends on them or buy bulk and put your own ends on them.

"Close" and 100' of cable mean two decidedly different things.

We're interested in your success but you need to be very specific in the answers to our questions or we may steer you the wrong way until we figure out what's really going on.

Do you have a plan for getting the cable from outside the house to inside?
