I know that when we were playing Overwatch last night I said I was kind of surprised that they were doing a Chinese New Year event but I guess I shouldn't be. Thinking back on it now I remember Heroes of the Storm doing a Chinese New Year event last year too.

I'm certainly not against this event. I'll take all events they want to put out. It's just that the Christmas one ended less than a month ago. I didn't expect another event so quickly and I kind of thought they might do something around Valentines day. Also, with me being an ignorant American I had no idea that Chinese New Year was about to happen or that it was a big enough deal globally that Blizzard would want to base an event around it.
 
I heard about a stat tracking site for Overwatch called Master Overwatch on a podcast today. You can look up anyone by their Xbox Gamertag or Battle.net Battletag. Overwatch has some of these stats built right into the game but this website goes into much more granular detail.

Unfortunately, if you want to look up PC players you need to know the 4 random numbers Blizzard assigns to the end of your name so I haven't been able to find yourbeliefs. When I just try searching his name without the numbers it brings up his Xbox account from when it was on free weekend. The search is also case sensitive.

I always thought Reaper and D.Va were my best characters but it turns out that I do best with Zenyatta, Reinhardt, and Junkrat in that order. You can click on any of the heroes to see more detailed stats for them too.
 
Did you have to sign up with the website to make stats available? I couldn't find my info nor could I find your cousin's..

No. I did log in to Battle.net so I could find out what the 4 random numbers at the end of my name are but I didn't do it through that stats site. The search is case sensitive, it requires the numbers, and it has to be exact or you won't get a match. For example, to find my account I had to enter my name exactly like this or I got no results.

Edit: Your Xbox stats only come up when I use a capital Y and B in the search. The system could definitely be better.
 
I guess you can't just put in the URL or something.. I don't know their system is weird. In any case I finally got my profile, and boy does it make me look like "Not the first choice for your team."

I'm not a big fan of the fact that there's no tracking of games that aren't quickplay or competitive. Like there's NOTHING. I'm 6 levels higher than you but the tracking claims I've only played 1 more hour than you. Also the timing statistics are off because there's no Arcade/Brawl information included. You could easily add 15 hours to my playtime and characters if those were added. But I realize this isn't as much an issue with the website as it is with Blizzard's own public tracking system. A cool concept anyways, and while I don't live and die by my stats (thank God) it still would be nice to have a more complete picture of one's performance.

Well you are in the 10th percentile in terms of healing. Considering that you spend most of your time playing Mercy I think that's a pretty good stat. Looks like D.Va is your most effective hero in terms of win percentage. I thought she would have been mine too but I actually have quite a few heroes where I do the as well or better.

I agree that it would be nice to see some stats from Arcade mode. It seems like I spend most of my time playing mystery heroes now. It would be nice to see some data from those games so I could get a better idea of which characters I should be using more in quick play and which I should be avoiding.

Some of the numbers on the comparison between us are really interesting. According to those stats there was a quick play game where I got 64 eliminations. I would sure like to see a recording of that match because I definitely don't remember doing that. It also says that both of us had at least one game with 100% accuracy. I find this really hard to believe unless it's counting games where we play as Mercy and never use anything but her healing ability or something.

It's too bad that the comparison page doesn't work when you look at individual heroes. It would be interesting to see numbers like best eliminations in one game for individual characters.

And as a result I'm in the top 99th percentile for K/D.

Yet another leaked trailer, this time from the Spanish Region.

Some more skins are been revealed. They all look really good, although that may just be because I'm used to seeing them (My wife actually has a few that match the outfits of Symmetra and Mercy, in terms of style) It also looks like they're putting in a Capture the Flag mode, although if this trailer is to be believed they've changed it to "Capture the Cock"

I've never been big on capture the flag in any shooters. Blizzard does a lot of things right though so maybe this will finally be the game to change my mind.
 
I've dabbled every now and again but it's almost never been a huge attraction for me. Hopefully they won't take away Mystery Heroes again to accommodate it in the Arcade mode.

Agreed. I would rather have Mystery Heroes than capture the flag any day.

I was originally skeptical that I would be into the theme for this event because I've never paid that much attention to Chinese culture. After seeing good pictures of the skins I actually want all of them. I still think the best few skins from the Halloween event are the coolest event skins they have put out so far but surprisingly I want more skins from this event than I have from any of the others.
 
The other cool thing is that they have multiple themes. Reinhardt, Roadhog, Winston, and Zenyatta are all characters from the famous Chinese story "Journey To the West," as the Enemy, Pig, Monkey King, and Monk respectively. It's also in the names of their skins (Brought my wife over to confirm this.)

Yeah they did a pretty good job IMO. Good news is that I at least have enough to buy 1 legendary skin, and I have to imagine I'll get at least a few others while I play.
