The iphone online sales is suspended in NYC due to AT&T network overload. This was announced this morning. You can still purchase an iphone at the Apple Store in Manhattan as well as through current stock at AT&T stores. The reason given was AT&T is just oversold on it's network capacity and too many complaints of existing customer service outages.

When the story broke to Wall Street, the Apple stock did an about face and began to Fall. Meanwhile AT&T stock started an upward trend.

Also in the story, Ralph de la Vega was quoted to have said they will do what is necessary and that includes raising prices for iphone bandwidth usage.

IMO, all this is leading toward the iphone being open to all carriers in 2010. Then the big question will be- what will happen to the subsidies? One way to increase prices is to end subsidies.

Another rumor was that there was a problem with the credit card processing and the web ordering was being defrauded.
