Nintendo Switch Thread

A bundle was the only way I was able to get a Wii for Christmas that year. Let's hope that they won't have the same "supply issues" with the Switch that they had with the Wii.

Amazon is really starting to piss me off on the Switch. I have notifications set to alert me of availability and never get notified... sigh.

Sent from my iPhone using the SatelliteGuys app!

Stupid stupid Target. Just got an email saying my pre-order for 2 switches was canceled due to a technical billing issue.
And of course it can't be re-ordered, due to being sold out.

On chat with them now. They said they tried to re-authorize the hold, and it didn't go through.
Proabably because my bank doesn't like big charges (without me authorizing them) from Target due to their credit card break in a few years ago.

Target told me they'll set me up to be emailed when (more like if) pre-orders will become available, and give me 10% off. Not holding my breath though...

I didn't get one, and am signed up for them as well.

I don't think I've ever successfully gotten an email from them when I was signed up for email notification of availability.

According to an interview with the President of Nintendo, it looks like Nintendo's online service will cost between $17 and $27 a year. A definite number hasn't been set yet, but at least Nintendo isn't stupid enough (hopefully) to charge the same amount as MS and Sony does for their more robust services.

Nintendo's President is.... well.. I guess the best we can say is that he's an optimistic person.

Kimishima predicts that the Switch will sell as well as the Wii did.

Just to remind you, the original Wii sold over 100 MILLION units.

It's at this point that one would expect to say "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard!" until you remember that he said the same thing about the Wii U.

Not gonna happen. I do think it will sell at least twice as well as the Wii U if they get they can increase the amount of games they put out per year. That would still put them at a distant 3rd behind Xbox One and PS4 though.

So apparently in the new Zelda, wearing all metal in a thunderstorm isn't a great idea..

A neoGAF user somehow got a Nintendo Switch early from his retailer and decided to show off the interface, since Nintendo doesn't seem to want to, even though the system comes out in TWO WEEKS!

http://kotaku.com/guy-gets-switch-two-weeks-early-shows-off-ui-1792450851

Turns out that the guy who did this video had a stolen Switch and Nintendo demanded it back (unsurprisingly)

Anyone else think it's a little disconcerting that there's still so many unanswered questions about a GAME CONSOLE with a release date so quickly approach?

I would if I had a pre-order in. As it stands it's probably going to be quite a while before I even think about buying a Switch so I haven't thought much about it at all. I keep forgetting that we are so close to the launch.

The Zelda: BOTW review embargo lifts on March 2.

FYI, Nintendo is allowing people to now pick out their usernames for the new Nintendo Online Service. Apparently this is to replace that awful old Friend Code service.

https://accounts.nintendo.com/login?post_login_redirect_uri=https://accounts.nintendo.com/

BUT, because Nintendo is Nintendo and they don't understand how a GOOD online system works, usernames are limited to 10 characters. That's shorter than all the other major services (Steam, XBL, PSN, Origin, uPlay, etc.) As a result I can't use my same username I've used on every other service, nor can anyone else with a moderately long name.

EDIT: However, one thing that the Nintendo account DOES have is name changes, so you can change your account at anytime. Just a FYI, PSN STILL can't do this.

Gamestop just let me know that 2 of the Switches I ordered will be delivered on Monday, March 6, and to verify the billing, as it will be re pre-authorized on Saturday, March 25th.
Too bad Target didn't give me that kind of heads up.

They're giving the option to speed up delivery to March 3rd, but I'm not willing to pay the extra in shipping.

Sill need to get ahold of 2 more units before the 2 of the kids birthday's in May (stupid Target), doubt I'll be able to get them before Easter (I'm not willing to pay anything over retail price), though would be nice.

Hopefully it won't be too long before people can easily pick one up of the shelf. Lots of new consoles are pretty tough to find for the first month or two.

I know, Easter was just a good time to give each of the kid's one at the same time.
With birthday's, a couple are in May, but one isn't until September.
