NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

Geesh. Always so cynical when talking of the Browns. Cribbs has a deal in place. He wouldn't hold a press conference at the CLEVELAND Auto Show if he didn't. Face it, Cribbs loves this city and is proud to stay here and the team did the right thing by taking care of him.

I highly doubt he would hold a press conference to say he was leaving ....

Looks like Holgrem and Cribbs and agent have worked things out.

Skins put 1st round tender on Jason Campbell. Hmmm. Perhaps the Skins aren't looking to draft a QB in this year's draft!

Report: Washington Redskins put 1st-round tender on Jason Campbell - NFL News - FOX Sports on MSN

1st round isn't saying they want to keep him ...... if they said they wanted a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd then you would figure they really would rather keep him.
1 first round pick for a QB is not that much, or for any quality player .... you already have an idea what your getting from the guy your trading for, nothing is certain with a draft pick.

More Browns stuff... a couple of sites saying things don't look good for Quinn in Cleveland, that the Browns are in the market to acquire a QB and Holmgren doesn't want a QB competition. Cleveland Plain-Dealer suggests Quinn may be available for teams to acquire, while NFP is more blunt and says that from what they've heard nobody in the organization think Quinn is the answer short or long term.

CPD - Cleveland Browns expected to be active in trade market, release center Hank Fraley | cleveland.com

NFP - Diner morning news: It

Boldin now reportedly available to teams for just a 3rd round pick. Since that is the first round in which the Bears pick, I wonder if they'd do it, since they really need a nice WR threat (and can Boldin still fulfill that role?). Naturally when the Cardinals are involved, there's a suggestion that the Chiefs may make an offer to bring Boldin back together with his former coach.

FREE AGENCY STARTS IN 12 HOURS OMGOMGOMGOMG!

I heard earlier that it's more likely that Anderson is dealt and Quinn will stay.

- Chargers have done a complete about face on Sproles, from no tender to the highest possible (1st and 3rd pick, $7.3m). This will be a 700k raise for Sproles. Reportedly he had already scheduled a visit with the Chiefs, Rams, Skins, Eagles

Interesting to see how the team changes tunes once they see how many teams are interested, this was probably thier thoughts right from the start, if teams showed interest, they'd jump back in with a better offer, if not they'd let him go.

DA doesn't have any trade value, it's a certainty he's going to be released before his $2mil bonus, only people that would trade for him would be those who think that they couldn't get him on a waiver claim, and im not remember how waivers work this time of year or if he even would go through them. Quinn has a very 'keep him' kind of contract, but it's breeding drama to have him and not start him, I am not sure they keep him around while he has value. Keeping him probably just means they couldn't find a trade partner.

Ramy declined to sticky this so soon... but it has more views and posts than most of the other stickies and in less time... :p

With free agency starting the next couple days will probably be as busy as a Sunday for this thread, and will only get worse on draft day.

MeStevo,
There's already a separate thread going for the Draft :)

Chargers have traded Cromartie to the Jets for a 3rd round pick in 2011.

Also being reported that the Browns are sending DT Corey Williams to Detroit.

The Delhomme era is going to end with a whimper as they release their longtime QB.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Especially in person in front of thousands of die-hard Clevelanders/Motorheads (at the Auto Show). He wouldn't be able to leave their alive if he announced anything else.

It is if you could pick Sam Bradford, Jimmy Clausen or Colt McCoy instead. I like Jason Campbell, but the potential of the top 3 incoming QB's in this draft are much greater.

I've heard Arizona is mildly interested. That would be a rather interesting fit. DA has an awesome arm and loves throwing deep. He just stinks on short routes.

Holmgren was interviewed by a local news station last night and he made it clear that he "wants a veteran QB". He says it's the only way to win with this team right now....
