NFL Lockout thread

:facepalm Jesus, Mary and Joseph.... we are gonna start this THIS early? At least wait till I have my coffee...:coffee

I know MY team and the fact that they promoted someone that was part of the same coaching staff and that is not going to change the current system they have... shows stability.

sta·bil·i·ty?

Firmness in position. Continuance without change; permanence.

The Raiders stayed "firm" on the philosophy of how they plan on running their football team by not changing the coaching staff and "continuing with the same" system they had before.

There....

Sandaraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa??!!!!

Take it away. I don't have the patience today.

The defense they have assembled is scary AND if they can keep the star in the making QB healthy... I say they will surprise alot of people.
hecha!!!!!!!!!! the raider helmet hehe........ at least you got something to be proud of this year. i hate what the fins are becoming under this jackass (Ross)

Hmmm....
Who wins more games this year, provided we play a whole season, the Lions or the Raiders ?

I'll take the Lions .... (if Stafford stays upright)

That being said, neither team may make .500, or they may both.

Btw, the Lions are looking into Nnamdi Asomugha

Analyst: Lions will be a front-runner for Pro Bowl CB Nnamdi Asomugha

The Lions will be one of three front-runners for the services of top free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, according to NFL.com analyst Gil Brandt.

Brandt says the other teams are Philadelphia and Houston.

Brandt provided his observations on an NFL.com chat and they were reported by ESPN.

"I wouldn't be at all surprised if (the Lions) make a big play for Asomugha," Brandt is quoted as saying. "And I think he would consider the situation in Detroit and playing for Jim Schwartz, who has won the respect of his team. A cornerback's best friend is a great defensive line, and right now the Lions have a pretty good group of defensive linemen."

Asomugha, a first-round draft pick of the Raiders in 2003, has played in three Pro Bowls. He has 11 career interceptions.

I say Nnamdi stays... We still do not what the COB is. I will take the Raiders because their division.

I figure the odds are in the Raiders favor to keep him too, was just pleasantly surprised when I saw the article ....

That said, I think the records of the two teams could be very close to the same ...

Yes, it will be considered a very good year if Detroit is 8-8 and a step in the right direction, then again if they are 8-8 and were like 8-4, it's not such a good year ...

8-8 would NOT be a good year because we did that last year...we want 9-7 or better.

Maybe DeMaurice Smith is not as stupid as some would believe:

It's one of the reasons that slightly more than a year ago he received approval from the executive committee to secure insurance that would pay each player roughly $200,000 if there were no football in 2011.

Smith disclosed the fund to only a handful of people outside of the executive committee. However with negotiations seemingly at a standstill late Wednesday night, the decision was made to play one of their aces in the hole. So in the relative quiet of the sides' New York City bargaining room the next morning, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth informed the owners of the previously secret lockout fund.

Was that the shove in the back that moved the sides closer to a potential agreement? Only the owners know for sure, but a source close to one of them said the disclosure definitely got that side's attention.

Heh, that would have been a disaster, I wonder how many players could even live on $200k for like 20 months. They'd be starving well before a summer 2012 verdict on the lockout insurance case. Wonder how much an insurance policy with a $300m payout cost and who paid the premium...

Thankfully it probably won't come to any of that and there could be an agreement in principle for the new cba as early as today.
