NFL coaches that are out the DOOR!!

Charlie Weis has joined the Chiefs as OC.

Some talk of Romeo Crennel being brought in as DC, but we haven't fired our DC yet and Romeo's been linked to the Giants job (or perhaps he's using that to build leverage?). Haley says he hasn't talked to RC since last season, so who knows. We did let go of Tim Krumrie, that guy was awesome. He was a Herm holdover though, we didnt fire him, we just didnt renew his contract when it expired this season, he'll get a job somewhere.

Word on Inside the NFL last night was that Marty Mohrninweg really is a good bet to take over for Mangini in Cleveland.

He looks like Mangini's evil brother...

I've been hearing that on local sports radio for a few days too.....damn....I was hoping for Gruden if Mangini is canned.

Competition for Crennel is heating up...

A few prominent NFL voices believe Crennel could indeed by joining Todd Haley's staff. ESPN's Adam Schefter writes, "It's likely to be a New England reunion: Now that Charlie Weis has agreed to work in Kansas City, Romeo Crennel will not be far behind."

Mark Maske of the Washington Post writes: "Romeo Crennel could be next as defensive coordinator [In Kansas City]."

The Chiefs will have competition for Crennel's services, though. Crennel's agent said this week his client would also be interested in the Giants job. Crennel is currently on vacation, and won't be back until Monday.

According to Joe Logan of EastAurora.org, Cowher is "OK" with the Bills' salary offer, but wants a "commitment" from Russ Brandon regarding the money that would be available to sign players....

Twitter / Joe Logan: Cowher OK with what the BI ...
Not that I would ever want Cowher to coach the Browns, but if Holmgren decides to fire Mangini I hope he does it soon. Potential replacements will be going to other teams in quick fashion.

Holmgren would not hire a Cowher anyway, or any other big name. Holmgren IS the big name.

He'll hire someone more along the lines of someone from a lower branch of his coaching tree...

1. There's not a lot of BIGGER names than Holmgren. By saying he's going to hire someone from a lower branch isn't going out on much of a limb.

2. You're right. Philosophy is #1 with Holmgren as it should be. For this reason, he will not be hiring out of the Belichick or Chin Tree.

He'll be OK till OT. Just don't let him give the ball away after winning the toss. Freaking idiot.

LOL! I had to do a bit of digging to figure out what you were talking about. For the whole story....

The most notable moment in Mornhinweg's coaching history was his decision, coaching Detroit, to kick after winning an overtime coin toss. Mornhinweg felt that having the wind in his favor was more important for his Lions to win the game against the Chicago Bears, despite having as his kicker Jason Hanson, who hit a then-NCAA record 62-yard field goal in his college days at Washington State University. He elected to kick and on the Bears opening drive, Chicago scored a field goal. Mornhinweg's Lions went on to become 3-13 after that game, and prompted fed-up Lions fans to refer to the coach as "Marty Moron-weg". This decision was the runner up for the Terry Award to Dwayne Rudd's premature helmet toss celebration that cost his Cleveland Browns a victory.

Sounds like he'd be a perfect fit in Cleveland! :)
