NFL coaches that are out the DOOR!!

Wouldn't a GM is this type of management structure be pretty much a figure-head?? You know that any important personnel decisions would be made by Holmgren.

I see the future GM being more of a scout while Holmgren handles day to day issues and has the final say on anything not in full agreement with the other heads. Mangini will most likely be relegated to coaching the players and that's it.

BTW, Eckert cancelled his trip to Seattle just a day following his visit to Cleveland (and two days before Mangini was given another year). All signs point to the Philly GM coming to Cleveland. I'm pretty sure this was done by design so everyone is on board. I think there's still a few more formalities they have to go through before he's officially announced though (such as satisfying the Rooney Rule and waiting until Philly's season is over).

if he doesn't get it done next season (much improved)i can see holmgren getting rid of mangini before the 2010 reg season ends. i understand that holmgren is looking for a little consistency right now within the team to later determine exactly what he needs to do.

Mangini will be on a short leash next year. Rumor is, John Gruden will be coming back to coach in 2011 and he's from the Holmgren tree.

Cribbs cleaned out his locker and said his goodbyes today. Without him there'd be no 4-game winning streak.

As did everyone else on the team. It's the offseason.

BTW, I highly doubt he's gone for good. He has 3 more years left on his current contract. If he's mad at anyone, it's his agent that he should deflect all anger towards. It's his dumb as agent who had him sign a 6-year deal at apx. 1 million/yr 3 years ago.

With that said, the Browns have all the leverage in this situation. If they make him an offer he refuses, he can either sit out and earn nothing or demand a trade. We aren't trading Cribbs unless the offer is VERY lucrative. And if Cribbs sits for 3 years, his value will be 'nill after sitting for 3 whole years.

My personal thoughts on it are this: Cribbs signed a bad contract, but has outperformed that contract. The right thing for the Browns to do is at least meet him in the middle with what he's seeking. That way, everyone's happy in the end. It's a long offseason, I'm not worried yet. Holmgren has bigger fish to fry right now that to worry about redoing Cribbs' contract right this very second. Let him get his feet in the door first. I trust everything will work out in the end.

At $1.4m/yr, however much the fans hate it, they just must not have plans to try and integrate him into the actual offense and keep him as a special teams player. Guy average 6.9 yards per carry over 55 carries... that's 1ypc more than Chris Johnson and Jamaal Charles, dude is a playmaker but clearly they must not want to build the offense around his talents.

If they trade him away which is likely what will happen (they might have to cut him if there's not enough interest and it's obvious he'll hold out) then fans will get over it if they can win games without him. If they don't, it will be the move that taints their entire season the same way McDaniels did in Denver shipping off Jay Cutler and chosing the last week of the season to bench Marshall and Scheffler.

You got a point.

If Holmgren has a say, we'll be running the West Coast offense instead of the spread option. Cribbs may be relegated back to nothing more than a special teamer. It's very possible Holmgren doesn't value Cribbs as much as Cribbs values himself.

PFT says next week Jack Del Rio has a meeting and he'll basically be interviewing for his job.

The Jags are desperate and need to shake things up somehow. While I don't think Del Rio should be fired, their organization is struggling with generating a reliable fanbase. If I'm not mistaken, they failed to sell out the majority (if not all) of their home games this year.

Hiring a new coach creates buzz. So does drafting a state favorite in Tim Tebow. Remember that prediction come draft day.

Buffalo Fans Raise Money to Lure "The Chin"!

Raiders, Bengals and Bears fans have all purchased billboards calling for their teams to clean house in the front office. But those are angry, angry cities. The salt-of-the-earth folk in Upstate New York prefer more constructive advice on their roadsides.

Monday, a local site launched a campaign to raise money to erect a sign in downtown Buffalo calling for the team to hire Bill Cowher. It took less than four days! Either Bills fans really, really want a coach with a proven track record, or ad space in the Rust Belt isn't exactly at a premium.

YES!! :clap:wave I was on the Cable bandwagon but there are two candidates that have been seen in Oakland!!!:D:up I will not say anything because i do not have a link but very happy and shocked!!!!!!! One college coach and one cfl coach!
cfl coach . lmao. Sounds like something Al Davis would do.

I actually want Cable to stay. I think he will. He showed the old man that the Raider could be competitive WITHOUT Fat Bastard Russell...and even win without him. Considering all the bad play, injuries and tougher schedule...they played well the last 8 games of the season(going 4-4).

But Cable is responsible for that offensive line. Even the starters are crap except Henderson! We cant even win two games in a row that is coaching. Also head coach tell you defensive coach it's OK to blitz!!

DUDE...that offensive line was injured ALL season. HOW many games did we have a completely healthy offensive lines...one, two MAYBE games? Most of those games we had multiple injuries with guys playing out of position. It's one thing to have a injury with a couple of guys playing out of position...it's another to have 2 or 3 guys out with MULTIPLE players out of position.

He has worked for the Raiders before under Gruden. He is know for high scoring.

WE need a QB to get the ball to guys like Schillens, Higgins, Miller and Murphy the ball. Gradkowski I like a ton....he reminds me of Stabler and Rich Gannon. A QB that is a leader...a guy that is respected in the huddle..a guy that demands and GETS respect.
