NFL 2024-2025 Season

For any new technology to be adopted (or at least taken seriously), what it is capable of must be demonstrated.
I did see a lot of players moving through each other. Reminded me of early AI Videos, not much to impress. I am sure there was a bunch of tracking cameras but it's pretty hard for even humans to make out what's happening inside a scrum.

I wish they would go back to playing Football, instead of making all rules favoring the Offense.

This Rule, that you can now have Others Push your player, has to STOP.

It use to be called dead back in the day, you were not allowed to push your own player, he had to do his own running, not anymore.

In the last 5 years or so the Eagles have made this a Farce ....

We may as well play Rugby.

I can't wait till teams start running that play all the way down the field.

Also, you use to get a Stoppage of play when the forward Progress was stopped, nope, no more ...

I can't wait till the ball carrier gets picked up by his teammate and carried for yardage.

Defenses have already started picking up the guy with the ball and trying to rip the ball out of his arms, not letting him go down ....

That is NOT Football.

Other teams have tried, they weren't as successful. Even the Eagles aren't as successful w/ out Jason Kelce under center.

Game will continue to change and evolve, you can push players, have been able to for along time. It hasn't been a penalty in the NFL for almost 2 decades.

Stoppage / forward progress is a judgement call by the refs.

Well, they continue to Ruin the great sport that it was.

Just have to stop them, and then they can't run it. Don't give up almost 300 yards passing (Hurts' best day since late September) and they can't run the ball to drain the clock.

It's not ruining anything.
I'm not really referring to Todays game, they do it every week for for the last 3-4 years ... no one else does it, but they get away with it.

And No, your Not allowed to PUSH your player.

Pushing the ballcarrier was illegal in American football from the ~1890s until 2005 (NFL) and 2013 (NCAA)Sep 28, 2023

Then they decided to let the Eagles do it.:(

What on Gods Green Earth made them decide, Oh, I think were going to allow you to pick up a player and throw him forward ????

I knew it was illegal.

Yes, I said that, it's been legal in the NFL for almost 2 decades. Nobody decided to 'let the Eagles do it.'

They're not getting away with anything, as long as they aren't carrying or pulling, it's legal.

Appears the Patriots won't be in the playoffs this year. Neither will the Browns. Well, at least the Pats don't have the QB in for tens of millions a season.
I watch many sports. our football has too many rules. no other sport has the ref's so involved start to finish. and there's only 12 minutes of action in a 3 hour game.
unreal.
Indeed, the NFL's biggest sin is you need to be a lawyer to know all the rules. I've been watching for decades and sometimes I don't know what the call should be. Holding and interference have got to the be two of the most subjective rules ever.

Rugby has two large teams on the pitch, and they manage the game with one ref on the field and a couple guys in the booth.

I started watching the NRL at the start of pandemic. love it. tried watching other leagues but didn't like them. such a good action sport.

Australia sports programming is a bear time zone wise! I think I remember catching some of the Super 12 or whatever it was called back in the days of Setanta Sports. Cricket, the test matches (currently Australia v India) start around 8 PM and by the time you wake up, they are done for the day. At least India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka give you a couple hours in the morning, granted their start even later!

What sucks is Fox has the rights here in the states to air all NRL & AFL games.
yet doesn't air as much as they could across their channels. we could time shift them. they show more preseason games than regular some years, it's just crazy.

If memory serves, I thought that was on Fox Soccer Plus. Maybe even FS2, back in the day. Always sucks when someone owns the rights and doesn't broadcast it... or did and then stopped. Fox used to be so much better with the niche sports. Discovery took the Champions League and stuffed it behind a paywall, after Fox used to show a ton of games via FSC, FS1, and FS2. Now Paramount has it behind their paywall.

Personally, I don't watch much Aussie related stuff. Only so much time in the day. So cricket, cross country skiing, EPL. Stuff I can watch in the morning.

My memory is bad, but didnt Reggie Bush get pulled over into the end zone for USC many years ago against ND? They said it was illegal but play stood and that lose cost ND a National Championship.
