NFL 2013 Season

What's funny is the "they can't win ugly" crowd is suddenly silent. That said, I'm concerned with the upcoming schedule: Atlanta, New Orleans, Denver and Cincinnati. How are the Pats going to match score for score with any of those teams, unless we start getting some of the injured guys back? Oh, and I personally think the Mangold play was worse than anything that I've seen from Suh. Talib is very fortunate that he didn't tear up his knee!

Serious? Mangold was worse? If Talib doesn't jump there he only gets hit in the hip. Why didn't the moron just run out of bounds like he originally looked like he was going to do. The hit my have been late but it didn't look that malicious to me.

Yeah, I'm serious Mangold was worse. He committed two sins: hit below the knees, and hit well out of bounds. And I agree, it was STUPID that Talib didn't run OOB. But if anyone should be pissed about that, it's Belichick and the Pats. Not sure why Mangold would throw a cheap shot because he felt that Talib should have run OOB. If anything Talib's stupidity could have given the Jets life if they forced a fumble.

Hey, if a guy is showboating and acting like he is going to try to score instead of just going down to seal the game I'm going to try to make him pay. Now once he got out of bounds Mangold absolutely should have laid off.

I think this is somewhat similar to the Suh play. They were both doing something they don't practice every day. Suh, who plays defense was trying to make a block and Mangold, who plays offense was trying to make a tackle along the sidelines. I can chalk at least some of it up to inexperience with the situation they were in. That still doesn't make it right. These plays are penalties for a reason. Both of them could have blown a players knee out and ended the season for them.

You do understand that Talib did the Jets a favor by not going down right away, don't you? Once Talib picks off that pass, the ONLY chance the Jets have to win the game is Talib fumbling. Why would anyone on the Jets be pissed off by Talib's stupidity? I just don't get it.

He wasn't doing it to do them a favor. He was trying to run it back for a TD and embarrass them. I understand it gave them a chance to get back in it. I'm just not a fan of that mentality. Like you said the game is over if he goes down so take a knee and win with grace. If he is going to try to run it back for no reason Mangold has every right to try to light him up and force a fumble. Now as soon as he got out of bounds he should have let up. I don't fault him for trying to make a big hit on a guy that should have just took a knee though.

Absolutely, but we both know that's not what happened.

Like I said, that play is a penalty for a reason. It's dangerous and he could have blown the guys knee out.

I'll have to see the play again but I don't think he's going for his knees. Mangold dives and Talib is jumping. If Talib doesn't jump then he only gets hit in the side or hip. I don't think Mangold was going for his knee at all.

I don't think he was either but that's where he ended up. If he was still in bounds there would be no issue with that play. It would just be another tackle. Once you add in the fact that he was out of bounds and it was an awkward hit on his knees it looks worse. The mini brawl that came after guaranteed there would be a fine or suspension.

If he was still in bounds it would have still been a penalty for leading with the crown of his helmet.

The "doesnt practice tackling" thing doesn't fly with me for a guy who's played over 100 games.

Watching the Packer-Redskin game on FOX. Did anyone else notice the stat scroll on the bottom of the screen?? They showed the scores, then the stat leaders in each game. The problem is, that all of the players shown had the last name of Griffin....

Well, he IS "Superman" afterall !

Boy do I miss the days when the Cowboys had a REAL quarterback and wide receiver. We have indecisive Romo and butterfingers Bryant.

Nice job by the refs helping the Chiefs. Really bad PI call on someone that trips over their own feet.
