Man,Oakland must be desperate for a QB.McCoy lost his job to Brandon Weeden, who will be battling Jason Campbell, formerly of the Raiders for the starting position in Cleveland.Oakland should see if Nick Foles could be traded for.I wonder if they could lure Ken Stabler or Jim Plunkett out of retirement?:D

Not because of performance, but more because of the contract that Palmer has. He refuses to take a pay cut, the Raiders and their fans believe he DOES NOT merit a $13 million a year contract. IF/WHEN they cut him, it's about $9 million in "dead money" in salary cap owed to him.

I would have LOVED that Jason Campbell would have never gotten hurt. BUT, it is what it is.

McCoy would be cheaper in both cap and in trade value, probably both significant motivating factors. Cutting Palmer and taking on McCoy's contract would probably take up less than $12m of cap space, while Flynn would take more to acquire via trade and increase the combined salary footprint to close to $17m.

Of course then McCoy becomes a free agent next year unless he signs a new deal, so unless they like something about him that move becomes kinda questionable.

I think the mentioned it would be more in the $15 million in the cap hit. But I could be wrong....but either way, it would be cap nightmare part deux...

Except we hear that EVERY year and he's never healthy enough to last the whole year, which is what they would require to be a playoff contender.

We are VERY far away from being a playoff contender. Though the RM has a done a great job getting younger and cheaper, they are still 2 years away from become good enough to talk playoffs.

Salsa,
Tell me about Hayward Bay ... he was at the Lions camp and was wondering if he would be a good fit in thier system ?

I liked him alot and was improving...until last year when he took a step back. He is beter suited to be a slot than someone trying to stretch the field. He is as good AS ANY WR when it comes to YAC. Very few defensive players can catch him. IF anyone can get him at $3-$5 million a year, he is a steal!

Well, he was in Lions camp, but haven't heard anything else yet.

:Looks like he left without signing, said he'll go home and ponder the situation ...

He's been to Indy and Detroit, thats all he's got scheduled so far.

I saw that. It would be a great move if didn't mean adding MORE the cap.

My guess is they've agreed to a trade and are renegotiating his contract. That's the only way they're lowering his cap number.

If he were coming to KC I wouldn't be happy with this move depending on the contract and trade compensation.

Never really sold on the guy to begin with.
