Maybe that's my personal interpretation of the new OT rules but,I know I have heard that being discussed on sport shows, that the new rules would somehow lower the percentages of ties. There can be no ties in the playoffs so why not make it that way in the regular season?I don't believe there are too many fans of a tie game.

Thats what I've said for years, but you get people saying that they may get HURT playing longer .... give me a break .

I agree let them play till someone wins. Ties stink. there should always be a winner and a loser. You want the game to end then make a play.

Little hard to do that in the playoffs (a tie) since its winner moves on ;)

I mean how many ties have we had in the last 10 years?

edit: wiki says 5 since 1989

you're right. it's not common enough to do something about but I still don't like it :)

Yep, a break, a tear, a contusion, whatever. If the NFL really wanted to avoid ties they would go with an NCAA-like OT instead.

Cosmo how many more injuries if any at all have you seen in games that go OT compared to those that end in regulation?

Be careful of what you wish for................................. ;)

nevermind-I thought this was Hart or Bill posting this. I hope the Texans just whoop on the Pats!

Be careful what YOU wish for! :)

If I'm a Broncos fan (or a fan of any AFC team, for that matter), I would have to believe it's the Texans- and not the Patriots- that stand in my way for a Super Bowl berth. ;)

Yup ...
However, they are pretty much IN regardless, but playoff seeding would make a difference to a certain point.

I read last night that all five of those ties occurred in November. Weird.

Right now it looks like all six AFC playoff berths are pretty much locked (unless we have a major collapse). That said, the #1 seed is not a forgone conclusion for the Texans.
