NFL 2012-13 Season

For those wondering about my avatar- that's Ted Washington, one of our standout defensive players in the post-Super Bowl era when Wade Phillips had some damn good defenses in Buffalo (Bill, you may remember him as one of the defensive standouts on the Pats' 2003 team, the best defense IMHO New England ever had)

From the neck up,Vince Young is probably one of the worse QB's who ever played the game. I think people would forgive him if he said he had a substance abuse problem, then people could blame all of his problems on the drugs or alcohol.

Yet, you constantly suggest for teams to pick him up............

I wanted to believe he could change. Sadly he's poisoned the well with his attitude & I'm not sure any team,NFL,CFL,UFL(if they still exist),or Arena Football League, would feel that they are in that desperate need of a QB to pick him up. If a "D-League" Indoor Football League can cut Terrell Owens, what chance does VY have?

As far as Vince Young goes, you know, yes its his fault but I dont think people helped. God only knows how many people used him because he was making a lot of $$$$ and once the money ran out everybody left. I mean, its sad, but true. People say that there your friend and then the money goes and forget it. Young probably helped out people and people took there cut. Vince Young was a human ATM Machine. I dont know this for sure but it wouldnt shock me.

As for Vince Young going broke he's not alone. According to a story in Sports Illustrated 78 percent of NFL players go broke. How can this happen? The same reason many people who win the lottery go broke. Lack of education, giving away your money to friends who promise to pay it back. It's sad really but you can't tell people how to save money. They have to want to do it themselves.

It's the now now now mentality. They always think there is going to be more or bigger contracts in a few years when that ones finished, so why worry. It's sad that we the fans keeps paying more and more for tickets and tv packages so owners can pay these outrageous salaries, then these guys blow it.

That's why many of them need to be protected from themselves. They almost need to be put on an allowance of some kind and have the money put in some kind of lock box.

Quite honestly, I didn't notice any worse calling in the Atlanta game than a game with the regular refs. The problem was that the replays took longer, and the Denver coach argued avery call (even after replay showed the call was correct).

Maybe if the coaches & players would stop trying to get away with things and let the refs do their jobs, then the game would flow better.

As for the ref with a fantasy team, I'd be willing to bet some of the regular refs had the teams too. Just because they're union refs doesn't make them saints. Just ask Pete Rose.

You seem to be the only one in the country who saw it that way...........there were simply awful and WRONG decisions for BOTH teams.

And how is that different than any other game/season? There are still Seahawk fans whining about calls in the Super Bowl they lost to Pittsburgh.

Hence my point that I didn't see it being anyworse than normal.

Wow the Cardinals rated 5th???Give me a break. If they somehow beat the Eagles Sunday I would go along with it.Carolina beats NO and are ranked 22nd?Guess we'll have to see when the season ends. The Eagles might be overrated at number 6.They got to prove it first.

While yes,I understand that most corporations have a dress code & that even the NBA requires its players & coaches to arrive to & leave from a game in a suit & tie, still my initial reaction was to roll my eyes at this story.
NFL fines 49ers cornerback Tarell Brown for wearing red sleeves
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/nfl-fines-49ers-cornerback-tarell-brown-wearing-red-213239748--nfl.html

They fined and rescinded the fine on Alex Smith for wearing an SF Giants baseball cap after Sunday's game. Bruce Bochy commented on it in pre-game this morning while wearing a 49ers cap. When asked if he thought he'd be fined for wearing the 49ers cap, Bochy said something along the lines of I hope not. There's something wrong with these leagues and their rules if it prevents players and coaches from being fans/supporting other local sports franchises.

I thought the NFL had a 8 pm Thursday night game every week ....

Guess not, it must start at 8:30 or so .... they should tell you it's a 8:30 game and not try to get people to think it's a 8 pm game.
