NFL 2009-10 Season

With so many people out of work, the NFL should show it's customers a little goodwill and lift that blackout rules for a little bit. I have a feeling they won't, but look how rich the public has made everybody involved with the sport....it would be a classy move to show a little love in return.

at least for one season. but as mestevo already mentioned the NFL said no way. :down

Quick fingers and another sip of beer. My Bad. Never have truer words been typed. They could use all the hot air that Rome blows and blow that wildfire out to sea. Why are so many pious a-holes on radio and TV as know-it-all sports authorities ?

I haven't listened to Rome in many years now.

Both of the people who jumped on it acted like I only said Rome and ignored the point to make their own. Everyone was talking about it how stupid the QB secret in Cleveland was, not just Rome.

It's like not saying who's going to kick the field goals, you're probably going to get the same result. Maybe if they change up the place kicker it will throw off the returners when the ball lands 5 yards shorter. I believe on the way home they said the Vikings are an even bigger favorite to win now.

Hell, here's another ranking that has them only above the Rams, and 2 slots below the lowly Lions. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/powerRankings

I think the Browns will win MORE with Quinn at the helm than if DA was in there.

All that would do is hurt clubs that are already having money problems, has nothing to do with relating to customers, they need to fill the seats, not give people more reason not to attend the games.

The value of the teams themselves on average stayed the same but some teams took a big hit to their net value this year... the Raiders for example are down 7% which is pretty rough news for an owner who's been discreetly selling off chunks of his franchise.

Recession Tackles NFL Team Values - Forbes.com

2008 was the 3rd most profitable year ever for NFL clubs. The average enterprise value for a club is over $1 Billion. They charge $8 for a beer.

It seems like they could still afford a little goodwill towards their customers who are *actually* struggling. The owners & players are still doing just fine.

Could care less what Rome and his clones think. They're obnoxious as hell.

I like Rome when he actually talks sports or does interviews. Sadly, this seems to happen less & less each passing day.

Well, here we are at the beginning of yet another football season.

Great start to the season tonight with the Titans vs. the defending champs.

Good luck to everyone.....................except when they're playing the Pats. :p :)

NFL partially waives blackout rule | ProFootballTalk.com

All blacked out games will be available in the local markets on a tape-delayed basis, via NFL.com.

The free "re-broadcasts" (as the league is calling them) will be accessible at midnight on the day of the game, and they will remain available for 72 hours.

The re-broadcasts will not be available during the Monday Night Football broadcast.

Also, the Red Zone Channel on DirecTV and the similar NFL RedZone product that has been purchased by Dish Network, Comcast, and other providers will include look-ins featuring the blacked-out games. This means that folks who have the Red Zone Channel or NFL RedZone in the markets where the games won't be shown will be able to see snippets of the game long before midnight.

"We understand that the economy is limiting some families and corporations from buying as many game tickets as they had previously," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a release. "These free re-broadcasts on NFL.com will allow our fans that can't get to a blacked-out game an opportunity to see the entire game."

Though some will still claim that the NFL should remove the blackout rule entirely, the significance of this concession should not be underestimated. The league zealously guards its game footage; the fact that the NFL is willing to re-broadcast the blacked-out games via NFL.com at no charge represents an unprecedented gesture.

Other stuff:

- Suddenly Broncos leaking talks of wanting to re-sign Marshall, likely a last ditch effort to prop up his trade value. Or the Broncos have seen the light and want to keep their best player.

- Merriman's accuser being interviewed says she'll be interviewed by DA Friday... she's been trashing the Chargers on Twitter. She deleted all her previous tweets about Merriman and insinuating steroids cause aggression and all that.

- Cassel may not be available for the Chiefs opener

- Richard Seymour is still sitting comfortably in his home in Massachusetts.

DT Shaun Smith has been suspended 4 games for violating the league's policy regarding anabolic steroids and related substances

Favre returned, so now Madden has. He's joined the league office as special assistant to the commish.

The NFL is so laughable. On moment, you are suspended for "insubordination"...then you realize that "insubordinate" player is the best player you have....and it's all forgotten AND they want to re-sign you. This proves once again that not matter how much blah, blah there is about "chemistry" and "good character" players are needed....it's all a big lie if your REALLY, REALLY good.....LOL!

I hope he DOES stay in Massachusetts...by p***Y. As long as he does not take a physical, I think the trade is null and void.

Marshall suddenly gets reinstated and now the Broncos are willing to negotiate a new contract for this idiot?! Have the Broncos become the new Bengals? Why is McDaniel's letting the inmates run the show in Denver? Another bone-headed move by the new young coach......
