:up:up I'm with you there. I just hope Mangini sticks with whomever he chooses for AT LEAST 10 games. I can't tell you how sick I am of the seemingly never-ending QB controversy/carousel.

I agree, I can see it being a big guaranteed payday though which is probably the whole point of what he's doing.
By calling it a 'Patriots issue' I think it could be construed that the Raiders are taking a hard line here and saying that they aren't giving him squat, he's a Raider and he needs to report, otherwise the deal falls apart and it's the Pat's problem.
I expect it to be bigger than the $30m 4 year deal that's about to expire. It will be worth it to the Raiders if they think he's worth the 1st round pick, will be less than they would have paid that player... so they've put an artificial value on him already.

The NFL has ruled that the 2 Saints DTs Charles Grant and Will Smith that are waiting to start their suspension for the Starcaps stuff pending a court ruling are eligible to play this week, they will not start their suspension until after the court rules, but the NFL has said that it will not start week 1.

Related, there was some talk that the NFL may make a concession and allow the Williams wall to serve their suspensions consecutively rather than concurrently. Instead of being without the 2 huge DTs for 4 games, they could perhaps just only miss one of them, but over 8 games.

Any word on when the ruling will happen? I'm still hoping those big boys will be missing when my Brownies face the Vikes this Sunday.
They will be playing this Sunday. The PFT article i ready didnt address the Williams wall, I've since read nobody will be suspended this weekend because the ruling is lagging. Any suspensions would start next week.
Just read the same thing. The Williams Boys are appealing, meaning they are a go this Sunday.

Also, Rome and the local ESPN guys were ripping Cleveland this morning for not declaring their starting QB... Mangini has admitted to wanting to make the Vikings 'work overtime' to prepare for the game. Don't see it really mattering.
I like PFTs point about how stuff like this was the driver behind the creation of the injury report, and we could see a standardization of depth charts or declaration of starting players so that no inside information advantages exist from a gambling perspective. It's been made clear by players that Quinn has been getting most of the 1st team snaps and is expected to be the starter.

I'm pretty sure people care even less who Cleveland starts (and it's more than Rome and his cronies... it's PFT, it's pretty much all the media...), it's like waiting to find out who's going to start against Baltimore for the Chiefs, it just isn't going to matter. Peterson will still rush for 150 yards, whichever QB starts will be sacked 3-5 times, and it will be a lopsided victory.
Some more about Seymour, apparently he was under the impression he was about to get a deal that would allow him to retire in NE and then he was suddenly shipped off to Oakland, lending to some of the confusion/frustration.

Cassel will be listed as questionable for the Chiefs game at Baltimore and Saints will likely be without Pierre Thomas against the Lions.

With so many people out of work, the NFL should show it's customers a little goodwill and lift that blackout rules for a little bit. I have a feeling they won't, but look how rich the public has made everybody involved with the sport....it would be a classy move to show a little love in return.
All that would do is hurt clubs that are already having money problems, has nothing to do with relating to customers, they need to fill the seats, not give people more reason not to attend the games.
The value of the teams themselves on average stayed the same but some teams took a big hit to their net value this year... the Raiders for example are down 7% which is pretty rough news for an owner who's been discreetly selling off chunks of his franchise.
