NFL 2009-10 Season

I bet he hurt it in the 4th quarter when he had the 15 yard scramble out of bounds.....he came up a little gimpy, but stayed in the game.

Very interesting storyline developing this Sunday...

After the first quarter in the 2007 season, Charlie Frye was benched to give way to Derek Anderson, who went on to have a Pro-Bowl caliber season. Frye was shipped out of town a day later. Two years later, both QB's have fallen from graces, but find themselves in a head-to-head matchup against eachother this Sunday as the Browns take on the Oakland Raiders at Cleveland Browns Stadium!

I hope it sells out.....I'm looking forward to watching.

Watching that game reminded me of the movie "Semi Tough", where the line decides to let the QB take all the abuse possible. The OL of the Redskins should be embarrassed, at least.

That play reminded me of the "brilliant" on-side kick by the Steelers this weekend. And not only did they set up for that silly assed fake FG once, they did it TWICE. WTH??????? The interception by the Giants was not unexpected. :) At least that did provide some comedy for the fans, who had nothing else to smile about. The 45-12 beatdown the Redskins took was not really as close as the score would lead you to believe.

To be fair, it worked against the Broncos for twice the yardage and for 6 points.

Wow. All of you outsiders are so inciteful. Thank you so much for your thoughts.

First off, we are in the middle of a rebuild. That should explain our amature offense. Sorry we're not the '07 NE Pats. We traded away pretty much all of our offensive weapons (Edwards & Winslow Jr.). Our other wideouts/tight ends are either retired and/or suspended (Jurivicious & Stallworth). We have two rookies as wide receivers (Massaqoui and Robiskie). Our starting running back retired this year following his season ending injury (Lewis). We are still trying to figure out who our future QB is (Quinn or Anderson).

Like I said, the season could've been a horrible disaster when we started 1-11. Instead, the team is still fighting and just rattled off 2 in a row. Suck on that haters! ;) :p  :D

Famous last words.

THE DETROIT LIONS - REBUILDING SINCE 1957!

I had an awesome dream last night! In it, the Browns and Lions met in the Super Bowl! Can you believe it?!

Signing Holmgren is getting me all pumped up and has clearly been weighing heavily on my sleeping conscious. I hope my dreams come true! Detroit fans deserve some success too. This Super Bowl would be so great for both fan bases!

Go Browns!

You mean they met AT the Super Bowl and got tickets like the rest of us ....:D

I put this together really quickly, please forgive any obvious mistakes....

Might be worth starting a playoff thread at this point and we can discuss what ifs without it all getting lost in the next two weekends worth of games.

For Pittsburgh to get in let's say they need to win their next games, so it would require as little help as possible.

This would put them at 6 conference wins, and a 9-7 record. This would also mean they beat Miami and Baltimore.

Assuming winners keep winning, the playoff picture would look like this for the Wildcard:

Team, Record [conference record] (assumptions)
Jacksonville 9-7 [7-5] (assuming loss @ NE, win @ Cleveland)
Denver 9-7 [7-5] (assuming loss @ Philly, win vs KC)
Baltimore 9-7 [7-5] (assuming loss vs Pitt, win vs Oakland)
Pittsburgh 9-7 [6-6] (assuming wins vs Baltimore, at Miami)
Miami 8-8 [6-6] (assuming loss vs Houston, vs Pittsburgh)
NYJ 7-9 [5-7] (assuming loss at Indy, vs Cincy)
Texans 7-9 [4-8] (assuming loss at Miami, vs NE)

Now players being rested, and upsets can turn this whole thing upside down, Miami, the Jets, and the Texans just have to beat teams they're not expected to. They are behind Pittsburgh right now though, it's up to the Steelers to slip Cleveland, Oakland, and Kansas City all have spoiler opportunities as well. This gives you an idea of who to root for/against though this weekend ;). I also don't have the time at the moment to figure out the common opponents tiebreaker, so will look at that later.

Some of my numbers could be off or wrong as I quickly put that together, but it should be kinda interesting to see how it turns out.

Good stuff, Stevo!! :up

I read somewhere (for the life of me, I can't remember where ), things that have to happen for the Steelers to make the playoffs.

There was about five things that have to happen (obviously including the Steelers winning out), BUT if you took those things individually it didn't look like such a daunting task.

Also, the Pats are in one of those situations that their only way in is winning the division ( one Pats WIN-OR- one Dolphins LOSS will clinch the AFC East for NE). However, if they lose both and the Phins win both, that throws the now 9-7 Pats back in the Wildcard fray, and they would lose out on tiebreakers to most teams (maybe with the exception of the Ravens and the Jets).

From SI.com - At 9-7, Pittsburgh would have a better record than the Dolphins. Pittsburgh would win tiebreaker with Titans (h2h) and Broncos (h2h); Pittsburgh would lose tiebreaker with Jaguars (conference record), Jets (conference record), Ravens (division record or h2h), and Texans (common games).

So really, the Steelers need the following:

1. Win both their games
2. Jags lose to Patriots
3. Broncos lose to Eagles
4. Jets lose to Colts
5. Texans lose to Dolphins OR Pats

Yes, it's a perfect storm scenario, but it's VERY doable.
