NFL 2009-10 Season

FIRE TED THOMPSON!

If you think getting rid of Favre was the sole reason Green Bay struggled, you're wrong.

The defense STUNK.

Need I remind you of that three-game stretch against New Orleans, Carolina, and Houston?

This would be a very good move for the Lie Ons....
Young QB with experience, vs young QB (Stafford or any others in the draft) with NO exp. and pay much less than the draft guys.

Jimbo

I'll pass. One year wonder in Cleveland. I'd rather spend the money on some quality defensive players.

I agree to a certian degree...
They definatley need the help on both lines, but I think Anderson would be an upgrade over what they have and what they may draft.

IF they went this way, they would still have all the draft picks to work with as well.

Jimbo

Wow- there go the only players remaining from St. Louis' Super Bowl team.

I'm putting the Rams down for 0-16 in 2009.
What should teams do when these veterans are getting up there in years, have lost a step, and cost too much against the cap vs. their reduced production??

It's a tough thing to do, but what are they supposed to do, hold on to them forever??

Here's a shocker! Shaun Rogers wants out of Cleveland. He told management not to pick up his option for 2009, which is worth over $6M.

My question is this: Is he trying to hold up Cleveland for more money, or does he see similarities between the Browns and Lions and wants no part of another team that can't win? Either way the only thing that shocked me about this guy was that he actually tried this last season, for a full season. HD MM, we warned you. One way or another this guy was going to screw the Browns. Looking like a bad trade for both teams now.

I know. These are the rumblings out of Cleveland too. However, I've yet to see a statement in quotations by Rogers on this subject. The rumors are that he's pissed at the new regime and doesn't like new coach, Eric Mangini. Rogers was a huge Romeo guy. Hopefully when the adjustment wears down, this whole thing will blow over.

If he really does want out of Cleveland, I take back everything I've said about this guy. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he came here. If he makes me regret that, I will feel silly. Maybe I should've listened to you after all, Paul and Jimbo.

At least you got a full season of effort out of him, more than Detroit can ever say. It's just silly to think he may have a problem with Mangini. He doesn't even know the guy. Training camp is 5 months away, and this guy already doesn't like his coach. Can you spell P-R-I-M-A D-O-N-A? (He's not even a WR.)

Maybe he wants out so he can renegotiate for a new contract before the NFL collective bargaining agreement ends at the end of the 2010 season. This actually makes a lot of sense. More so than him just "not liking Mangini."

Think about it. He had a monster season last year. He went to the Pro-Bowl. The threat of Lockout by the Owners is making agents and players approaching their peak earning years very, very nervous.

Players are looking to cash in now under the current agreement. Rogers may just be the first in line of players looking to opt out and sign a short term, high guaranteed dollar contract, vs. a long term, high total dollar contract. Notice the Nnamde Asomugha contract. Biggest contract in the NFL. HUGE dollars in the first two years, all guaranteed, with a club option for the third year. If the CBA changes the salary cap structure, the Raiders can opt out of the top contract in the league in year 3.

This may be what big Shaun Rogers is after....

That was first guess. Shaun's got to do what's right for Shaun. I guess $6M wasn't enough to feed his children. The economy is in a shithole, and this guy wants more money on the basis of 1 good season out of the last 3. The greed in pro sports never ceasec to amaze me.:(
