NFL 2008-09 Season

Crennel is fighting for his job at this point, even I thought the Browns could make the playoffs this season, but one more loss will pretty much end that thought.

I agree.

I actually called our season off in the third quarter last Sunday. After I sobered up and waited 24 hours for my rage to subside, I decided to give them 1 more week. :D

Anyways, here's a peak at the AFC North Standings:

Baltimore------ 2-0 (0-0 Division)
Pittsburgh----- 2-1 (1-0 Division)
Cleveland----- 0-3 (0-2 Division)
Cincinnati----- 0-3 (0-1 Division)

Baltimore plays Pitt this week. Pitt is without Willie Parker and Casey Hampton. Plus, Roethlisberger is banged up. I think the Ravens have a shot at beating them this week. If so, Pitt goes to 2-2 (1-1 in division). The Ravens can go 3-0 for all I care. They will eventually come back down to reality with that rookie QB of theirs.

The Browns play the Bengals this week. A Browns win puts Cleveland at 1-3 (1-2 in division), just 1 game difference from Pittsburgh. Week 5, the Browns have a bye and this is a great time to get healthy. We've started the season without several key players and hopefully we can get those guys back after the bye.

There's still time to right the ship, although if it doesn't happen this week, I'm confident they will suffer from a giant meltdown and never recover....

All I can say is, good thing this game isn't at home. BQ may be the most popular back-up QB that I've ever seen and I can see the fans chanting "Brady, Brady, Brady" if Derek slips up at all.
Wasn't that long ago in Dallas that undrafted Tony Romo was the most popular backup QB. Of course, with Testaverde and Bledsoe playing in front of him, that made a lot of sense.

Romo was in commercials, had millions of dollars in endorsements and attended the ESPY's prior to becoming the starter? Honestly, I've never heard of him until he became the starter.

I don't know how many endorsements and commercials BQ has. I guess when you're the Notre Dame QB, that's to be expected. I was talking about popularity with the fans of the team.

I'll set a few more over/unders:

80 combined pass attempts in the Cardinals/Jets game?

45 points for Denver against the Chiefs? (the Broncos will OBLITERATE K.C.)

I agree, the Broncos will/should demolish the Chiefs. BUT, if KC scores in the high 20s/low 30s with THAT offense, the Broncos defense is even worse than I thought it was.

he has a new contract with alot of guaranteed money. also the way we have drafted the last several years .............

bulger is not the problem. No quarter back can do well in that offense right now. The OL needs to give the QB more time. No run blocking either. The rams are set at QB and RB. The rest is ??????

Technically they would still be 2 gb of the Steeler's as the Steeler's have already beat the Browns.

One of my all-time favorite athletes officially retired today. Troy Brown, the all-time Patriots receptions leader, announced his retirement today at Gillette Stadium.

Troy is one of the classiest and most unselfish athletes that ever played in this area in ANY sport.

I'll never forget in '03 and '04, (two championship years) the Patriots were savaged by injuries in the secondary, and ole #80 volunteered to play defense in nickel situations.............and did a very good job. :up

Troy once again, thanks for all the memories the past 15 years, you are truly one in a million. :)

He has a home in Huntington, WV which is close to where I live. I met him once when I was working part-time in Best Buy. He bought a computer and was very nice. I didn't even realize it was him until somebody told me.

Ramy,
I too met Troy once. He was as down to earth as they come. :up

When I think of Troy Brown, I'll always remember one thing:

When he saved New England in that playoff game against San Diego in January 2007.

I really like what the Bills are doing, they have a 80% chance to win their division.
Now, can they really beat a team in the playoffs?

Great point :up. I actually forgot about that.

How about the 2001 (January 2002) AFC Championship in Pittsburgh.

Troy made two HUGE special teams plays:

1. He returned a second quarter punt about 60 yards for a TD (that's when I started to think the heavily underdog Pats had a chance to beat the Steelers).

2. The Pats blocked a Steelers third quarted FG attempt. Troy picked it up and ran a few yards, and right before he was going to be tackled, an alert Brown lateralled the ball to Antwan Harris who ran down the sidelines for a long TD return.

The Pats won that game by only three points (24-21) and lost Tom Brady to injury in the second quarter, so those two plays were HUGE! :up
