NFL 2008-09 Season

Week 3: Monday Morning QB

1. Romeo Crennel is officially on the hot-seat.

2. The #1 candidate IMO to replace Crennel would be Bill Cowher IMO. This team would thrive on the emotion that he would instill. Plus, he knows the division and understands the rivalry with the Steelers. ;)

3. The Cowboys ARE the best team in the league right now, but the New York Football Giants may have something to say about that come Week 9.

4. The Bills are who I thought they were. (My Cinderella pick of the year. ;))

5. The Cardinals still can't win big games on the road.

6. Ronnie Brown is the undisputed player of the week. 5 TD's and 115 yards rushing against the Pat's! Are you kidding me?!

7. I'm not sold on Atlanta yet. They need to beat a legitamite team in order to be taken seriously. And no, beating Detroit and KC doesn't provide instant credibility.

8. I think we're starting to see the next batch of QB's that will lead the next generation in the NFL in Jay Cutler and Aaron Rodgers.

9. In their sixth game in Green Bay, the Cowboys finally won for the first time at Lambeau Field.

10. Who is Tyler Thigpen and how is he a QB in this league? KC, I think we need to talk about a trade possibility in moving Derek Anderson. Bring on the Brady Quinn era in Cleveland!!!!

Bill, I appreciate your condolences, but I really cannot begin to describe the sick feeling I have in my stomach right now. This is REALLY depressing. I know that time heals all wounds, but this awful start is real tough to take.

In a previous thread I talked about how '07 was my favorite year as a sport's fan in Cleveland. 2007 was even coined "The Season of Dreams" by a local sports talk show host. Well, I think I have a new moniker for the 2008 sports season in Cleveland: "The Season of Disappointment"!

Getting a taste of what it's like to be a Lion's fan? Or a Tiger's fan? We had high aspirations for our baseball team this season. I feel your pain, bro.

Nope....we are realistic about our team. We don't get a win and start thinking playoffs...

We're just thinking about a win, here in Detroit. This team may be worse than the one a few seasons back, that was a staple of Jay Leno's humor every Monday night. Kitna got hurt yesterday, and it might be time to see what Drew Stanton (Mich. St.) can do. Of course he won't help this pitiful Tampa Two (Too? Or more like number 2? Definitely the later, the way they're crapping up the field) defense, but the offense isn't exactly scaring the crap out of anybody either, and we do have some weapons there. Might as well as start on next season, (or next decade: it will take at least 4 seasons to undo what Millen has done to this team). I would fire Millen and Marinelli immediately, but then it's not my team. I know common sense says that you don't change horses mid-stream, but it couldn't be any worse with a new regime than it is right now.

I'm running out of ways to describe just how bad this team really is. I don't know how those guys cash their checks and sleep at night.

END THE MILLEN ERROR NOW!

#2 A former Steeler coaching the Browns? I hope nobody else from make-believeland saw that. I know if I owned the Lions, I would be asking this guy what the number before the six zeroes would be.

#7 It sure beats losing to them, though. Definitely a couple of steps in the right direction, which is more than either of us can say today.

I know Paul. It took me a while before I could admit to myself that an ex-Steeler Coach would be a good fit here in Cleveland. He is pretty much the anti-Romeo.

Where Romeo has the same dumbfounded expression on his face the entire game, Cowher would rip into these guys. This season's lack of effort has really reflected the coach's demeanor IMO. Not to mention his mind-boggling in-game tactical decisions.

BTW, Mr. Cowher used to play for the Browns and Coach here too, before he was a Stooler........

My bad, I didn't know this.

Mr. Cowher should go BACK to Pittsburgh ....
I would seriously be pissed if he were to go to Cleveland after his longtime tenure in the Steel City.

otoh, him in DETROIT would definatly help.

Here's a funny fact about why scheduling certain opponents for 'Monday Night Football' can backfire:

Miami and Atlanta, who went a combined 4-28 last year, got 3 'Monday Night' appearances.

Dallas and Green Bay, which went a combined 25-7, got 2 combined 'Monday Night' appearances.

Just goes to show you that scheduling certain teams and not scheduling others can REALLY backfire.
