FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Tom Brady visited his New England Patriots teammates Wednesday, three days after suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Wide receiver Randy Moss said the quarterback and reigning NFL MVP was at Gillette Stadium and the visit was "uplifting." Brady was shown walking out of the stadium with a limp but no crutches on a video aired on WHDH-TV.
"We saw Tom today," Moss said in a national conference call. "I am not sure how much longer we are going to see him, but he is here today and has been uplifting and keeping a positive attitude. I think that goes a long way with not only him but the team as well."
The Boston Globe reported on its website Wednesday that Brady suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee in Sunday's season opener. The team has not given details of the injury and a spokesman said it declined to comment on the report.
The report cited NFL sources and said medical tests indicated no damage to other knee ligaments and no torn cartilage. It also said Brady probably would have surgery in a month and face a recovery and rehabilitation period of six to nine months if there are no complications.
In comments to reporters on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Belichick did not specify what was wrong with the knee. But the play on which Brady was hurt, his reaction and the prognosis all point toward a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
He was injured on a play that ended with 7:27 left in the first quarter of the Patriots' 17-10 win over Kansas City. He was hit on the knee by safety Bernard Pollard, who had scrambled toward him after being knocked down by blocker Sammy Morris. Brady was stepping forward to throw a complete pass to Moss when he was hit and fell to the ground.
Moss said Brady was "upbeat" during his visit.
"He is still the same old Tom Brady," Moss said. "I think that is what a lot (of) people don't really understand. A lot of times when guys get hurt, you might not see him around the locker room for months at a time."
But Brady was there Wednesday, a day on which his team practiced to face the New York Jets on the road Sunday.
"You expect a guy to really be down on himself," Moss said. "I think he was more down last Sunday. Just from a few conversations and text messages, he is still positive. That is what you can hope for in a guy like Tom."

What's crazy is that the Patriots are starting a guy now who hasn't started a game since he was in high school 10 years ago! Who's the backup now? Some guy who plays flag football?

I remember Warren Moon also got some major media fawning when his Oilers, also a talented offensive team, always choked in the playoffs.
Warren Moon had major success already in the CFL, so there was a good basis for high expectations. As I remember, Moon always put up big numbers too. I put that generation of Houston Oilers in the same category as the Air Coryell San Diego Chargers. All offense, zero defense. Like Dan Fouts, Moon is in the NFL Hall of Fame.

And Ben was also put into an ideal situation with the Steelers during his rookie Super Bowl run. Winning a Super Bowl doesn't make him a top 4 QB in this league. Many would argue that Dan Marino was one of the best and he never won the big salami.

It doesn't hurt.:D In my book he is in the top four. Winning as many starts as he has counts big in my ratings. He very rarely is the reason for the Steelers losing, that counts too. No personal bias here, I just call them as I see them. The boy is a winner, plain and simple. He does exactly what the Steelers (and for that matter, any team) need to win. Too many QB's try to do too much and cost their teams games. Detroit's Kitna is an example of this. (Of course when you play for the Lions....). Matt Ryan displayed this ability last Sunday, he didn't try to win the game, and didn't make any mistakes that cost them the game. Same for Aaron Rogers.

It took Peyton years to win a playoff game, he eventually did. Romo will too sooner or later.

Really going out on a limb with that prediction? My guess is that it will be sooner, most likely this season. I like their chances of winning it all. No notable weaknesses on that team. Injuries and/or a TO meltdown may be the only obstacles.

I can get with that. My original outburst was more because of Carson Palmer being mentioned among the top 4.

To me, you can go either way with Romo or Ben for #3 or #4.

I'd put Romo ahead of Ben and Palmer. Palmer IMO is overrated. Ben is just a big ox.

A big OX ??
Being Big makes you a winner at QB in the NFL ?
If I recall, he won like 16 of his first 20 games, also won a SB ....

That alone is something NONE of the guy's you mentioned have done.

Yes, he's playing with a good team and that surely helps, but are you telling me that he's the only one that came in with a winning team ?

That is the problem with rating college QB's, a lot of the ones that make it to the NFL, would do much better if they were drafted by a different team, before they are ran into the ground playing for a losing team. Some of these guys are not as bad as they appear.

Aaron Rogers may be a prime example, personally, I think he'll do fine, but , had he went with say the Lions or another perrenial losing team, he would have been lost in the NFL as another bust of a high profile QB.

Good post Jimbo. To prove your point - as good as Peyton and Eli are, they're dad Archie was even better! But he was destined for mediocrity by playing with the Saints (who were truly the Aints in Archie's day). As a player, he deserved better, but I imagine he's getting some sweet revenge with two of his boys winning Superbowls back to back. :)

And we all know HDMM hates Big Ben because

Big Jen will meet Big Shaun Rogers Sunday! I can't feakin wait! How's that O-Line this year Stoolers? You guys will be wishing you didn't get rid of Alan Faneca come Sunday night.

Here we go Brownies, here we go! Woof WOOF!!!!!

Here are my NFL matchups I'm most looking forward to this weekend:

1) Cleveland vs. Pittsburgh (I'll be attending in person)
2) Philadelphia @ Dallas
3) New England @ New York Jets
4) Indianapolis @ Minnesota
San Diego @ Denver. I wonder if Denver is as good as they looked against the Raiders. Will the Bolts light up the Denver secondary with no Champ Bailey and no John Lynch? Can the Bolts get to Jay Cutler without Merriman? Will the revamped Denver defense now be able to stop the run? After all the preseason hype, will the Bolts go to 0-2?
