NFL 2008-09 Season

Bill,
Looks like Chris Simms will be in NE tommorow for a workout .
I was hoping that Simms would sign with the Steelers when Batch went down.
btw, Leftwitch was 0-4 today passing for the Steelers in mop up duty.

Jimbo,
I've always liked Simms, but not under these circumstances. :(

If indeed this is a season ending injury (and there are reports that it is), I really believe the Pats should contact Culpepper. IMO, he's the only unemployed QB that could be a difference maker, and more importantly he has a rapport with Randy Moss from their Viking days together.

You make a good point about Cullpeper and Moss
I think it will be Cassel for at least a few weeks, till someone gets in there and has time to understand the plays they run.
Do they have any other former QB's that use to play in the NE system around

Damon Huard, who coincidentally came in the game for injured Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle, backed up for the Patriots from 2001-2003. There's no way that the Chiefs will let go of Huard, because reports are that Croyle separated his throwing shoulder against the Pats today.

ESPN is reporting that Chris Simms and Tim Rattay are going to work out for the Patriots this week. I don't mind Simms, but no way do I want any part of Rattay!

Is the word official on Brady's injury?

Is he REALLY done for the year?

Not official (what else is new with the CIA Patriots ), but every report has Brady out for the year with a torn ACL. :( Sources say it's very similar to Carson Palmer's injury from a few years ago.

Bears 29- Colts 13 with 8 minutes left??????? Is this season getting off to a weird start or what?

Bill,
Just wondering if maybe he had this injury coming into the game, thought he could go and it got worse when he was hit ....
Seeing he secretly did not play at all in the pre season, with said foot injury ...

Jimbo,
I believe Brady had an injured right foot, I just don't believe it was as serious as some media outlets were making it out to be (I think part of that was the Patriots playing head games).

Looks like the Bears are going to beat the Colts tonight, didn't think I'd be typing that tonight.
IF the Bears can play this way week in and week out, maybe people would not automatically give the division to the Vikings in week one ...

The facts about the AFC "Big Three":

The Patriots are without the services of future Hall-of-Famer, Tom Brady for the rest of the season!

The Chargers lost AT HOME to the Steve Smith-less Panthers!

The Colts lost AT HOME to the Bears by 16 freakin' points!

To take it a step further, many people's AFC darkhorse, Jacksonville also lost today.

Is it me, or are the Football Gods pointing towards YKW in the Super Bowl?

I know, I know, MUCH too early to call, but..................................

Well, the Bears saved the biggest surprise of opening weekend for last, they were clearly more physical. Payton Manning was out of sync but Colts looked slow.
The Bears seem to be following a pattern of teams today, run the ball with timely passing. Hopefully the more pass oriented teams get it together.

Nope.

They're pointing towards cybok's boys- the Pittsburgh Steelers. (Bill, you forgot the Burgh- it's the AFC's big four, not three)

There was an AFC power that looked dominate against a Houston team that won't be so pathetic this year.

If anything, I think we could have an old-school Super Bowl- Steelers/Cowboys.

We had an old-school NBA Finals with the Lakers and Celtics, after all.

I agree. I put Big Three in quotation marks, because that's what the media calls them. I NEVER underestimate Pittsburgh. The Steelers have been the most consistent team in the NFL- BY FAR- the last 35 years. They're ALWAYS there. However, I STILL don't buy the Cowboys act-not yet- not until they prove it in the playoffs. I think a team like Philly or Minnesota could go all the way this year, I really do.
