NFL 2008-09 Season

+1 on that one. These guys have been threatening to be good for what seems like a lifetime, yet it never materializes. Reminds of another team.....

Plus, they don't even know who their QB is. Will Warner remain the starter the entire year? Can he stay healthy enough to remain productive behind that shoddy line? Is the Leinart experience over? Is Boldin going to be a distraction in his politicking for a new contract?

I don't buy the broken foot thing AT ALL. I hate to say it, but I don't trust Belichick. His way of doing things is getting old as far as I'm concerned. I'll always appreciate that he brought this franchise to heights not previously dreamed of, but the "us against the world" mentality is getting tired (I'm not the only Patriots fan to feel this way either). I think the Brady "injury" is just another Belichick scheme (I HOPE I'm right).

BTW, IF the Brady injury is serious enough that he misses substantial time, the Patriots will finish third. Their backup QB situation is as bad as it gets!

Don't worry Bill, IF Brady is hurt enough to have him miss games, I am SURE that they will go out and sign another QB, they would not go into a game with the current back up QB.

Jimbo

Jimbo,
this is why I don't understand them not giving Daunte Culpepper a shot. He is definetly better than anything they have backing up Brady!

Cullpeper thinks he's better than he is .... and feels he shouild be starting.
That said, IF anything happens I am sure Cullpepper will be available.
His retirement papers are only a formallity and he may not have even signed them yet.

Lot of questions to ask:

Bill- How concerned are you about Brady's injury and the fact that they needed a fourth down to hold off the toothless Chiefs?

Paul, Jimbo- How are you going to trash the Lions this time? Can you guys try not to mention they've been rebuilding for a short time?

Sandra (if she's still posting)- Are you a believer in Favre?

Also...

1. How bad are the Rams/good are the Eagles?

2. I guess that guy with the Foghorn Leghorn avatar WAS right about the Bengals.

3. So much for the Texans being a trendy and chic pick to be a dark horse.

4. My original hometown team (the Bills) throttled Seattle. Can you say the king is dead in the NFC West?

1.The Rams are that bad, but McNabb was superb today.

3. Cleveland stunk up the joint on it's first game last year, lots of season to go.

4. Typical Seahawks, a power at home, a pauper on the road.

...In other early games, Hats off to Atlanta. Seem to have stolen the Pittsburgh playbook, run the ball, timely passing.

Miami Coach Sparano made his big mistake not kicking the FG with 9 minutes left. Too early to go for it.

Saints win what turned out to be a shootout with Tampa Bay, but still make too many mistakes. Did do some good things with Reggie Rush, keep at it.

Jaguars and Titans game sent the NFL back 10 years with their play.

Charles you nailed it! :up As far as McNabb goes, I predicted a MONSTER season from him....................he's off to a GREAT start!!!

Of course I'm VERY concerned about Brady. I'm hoping he misses about a month, (of course it could be better or MUCH worse than this) because the Patriots schedule is favorable over the next four weeks: @ NYJ (probably a loss without Brady), Miami at home (very winnable either way), bye week, and then at San Francisco (very winnable either way), before they get into the meat of their schedule, Oct. 12 @ San Diego. The ironic thing about the Brady injury is that he was playing great (fumbles by Welker and Moss stalled two Patriots first quarter drives) with the "right foot injury", and then he injures his left knee.

As far as the Patriots performance goes, it wasn't all bad. Matt Cassel played very well in Brady's absence, both Laurence Maroney and Sammy Morris had some nice runs, and the Patriots defense- other than a couple of breakdowns- looked very good. However, if worse case scenario, Brady is out for the season.............we're looking at a 7-9/8-8/9-7 season. UGH!!!!!

Browns not looking good.

I guess the Cowboys ARE as good as advertised.

OTOH, Cliff Lee got win #21... at least our Cleveland buddy can hang his head high about that.

San Diego in a dogfight with Carolina. WOW. With Steve Smith suspended, whoda thunk that?

Arizona playing a solid game in San Fran. Looks like Bill's 'reverse prediction' is working.

The Panthers just beat San Diego WITHOUT Steve Smith.

I can't believe the Chargers just lost to these guys.

CAROLINA??!!

Freaking Carolina?!

I have the Panthers as a wildcard team, but I have to admit, never in a million years did I think they would go into San Diego WITHOUT Steve Smith and win the game!

I'm no fan of Carolina. But you have to give them credit, they are a scattershot team that won a game on a scattershot drive, capped by a fantastic catch. San Diego should have blitzed.

Dallas could have named it's score on Cleveland, Anderson was borderline horrible.

Guess JT O'Sullivan isn't the answer in San Francisco.

Lost in the Brady injury, is the Patriots winning their record 20th consecutive regular season game today.

Sorry,
but I want to see them, and more specifically Romo, do it in the postseason before I declare them the second coming.

In the spirit of 'NFL Primetime,' let's give out our game balls (or, which player has the best day).

Bill will probably select McNabb- I'm going with Turner 'The Burner.
