Monday Morning QB with HD MM. Week 16 Version.
1. The Arizona Cardinals will host their first playoff game in 61 years. And the excitement comes to a screeching halt right there.
2. Speaking of the Cards, they didn't stand a chance in Foxboro, especially with all that snow and cold. Sure their efforts were enough to win the lowly NFC West, but when this team heads East of Glendale, there isn't a more sure thing in sports then for them to lose.
3. Congratulations to the Giants and Titans. Both clinch homefield throughout their respective Conference. As a result, the road to the Super Bowl will be going through Nashville and East Rutherford.
4. Win or lose, the Panthers showed they can play out of their comfort zone in Charlotte. Both teams ran the ball well, just one better than the other.
5. On a cold, blustery night in the Meadowlands, how appropriate was it that "Wind", aka Derrick Ward (rather than Earth or Fire) ran for 215 yards including 82 on the final TD drive that won the game for the Giants in OT?
6. The Steelers can blame the Big dumb Ox (Ben Roth) on losing a very important game against Tennessee. How do you fumble the ball 4 times (lost 2) and throw 2 interceptions during the biggest game of the year?! Way to go Yinzer.
7. Why is it that College Football has so much loyalty in their conferences outside of their team (especially the SEC), yet in the NFL it's the opposite? For example, I can't imagine rooting for fellow AFC North teams (Pittsburgh or Baltimore) now that my Browns are out of the playoffs. As a matter of fact, I hope both teams lose miserably! If this were the SEC, the outside team looking in would actually root for their inter-divisional rivalry team. I don't get it.
8. On a cold day in Cleveland with temperatures of -7°F, Browns fans that attended the final home game of the season got sent home with nothing for Christmas. The miserable, injury riddled offense failed to score a TD yet again. Make it 5 straight games without an offensive TD. And those fools that actually thought our 4th string QB would perform better than 3rd string Ken Dorsey? LMAO! 4th stringer, Bruce Gradkowski entered the game after Dorsey suffered a concussion and rib injuries. On the 3rd play, Gradkowski threw an interception. Thank God this season is over next week!
9. Congratulations to the Lions. First team ever to go 0-15. In related news, next week the Lions try to avoid the dubious distinction of finishing 0-16 at Green Bay, where they haven't won since 1991.
10. And now for my player of the week award! I'll have to admit, this award was completely biased, as it brought me great joy yesterday. That joy was brought on by none other than LenDale White by stomping and desecrating a terrible towel. LMAO!!! Awesome!
