NFL 2008-09 Season

Here's how bad it is in Detroit: A buddy of mine left 2 tickets for the Lions laying on his dashboard of his car. Some A-hole broke his windshield and left him two additional tickets!
I love that line. Vanderbilt fans use it all the time, only I actually was given an extra ticket there when they played LSU a couple of years back. :D

Maybe that previous post about B.O. and the Lions wasn't far from the truth...

Do The Lions Still Have The Stink Of Matt Millen On Them?

Two different National Football League sources - one of them close to the Fords - insist that the Millen firing earlier this season was just a ploy to appease angry fans of the 0-13 Lions and that Millen is still calling the shots and on the club’s payroll as a consultant. One NFL scout acknowledged that this rumor is making the rounds through the league and that while he couldn’t absolutely confirm it, it wouldn’t be shocking news to many in the football world.

"It wouldn’t surprise me at all," he said. Added another NFL personnel type: "Whoever is calling the shots, they’re doing a terrible job at it."

I'm not buying that one. After all the Lions were crappy before Millen too. Just not as crappy, but crappy just the same. The Ford's have been killing this franchise long before the Millen Error, so they have some experience in these things.

"Daze Of Our Lions"

Quote of the week:

On others not seeing it: "It's the invisible, I guess. No, that's what I'm saying. I believe in the invisible. I do. I think you go out and you have faith in what you do. If you don't have it, you're nothing. You're not a man. You come out like that and you give up, I have no respect for you. I'm not done, OK? If you just say, 'I give up. We're no good. We can't do this. Oh, woe is me,' and look for pity, that's disgraceful to me. I look for every positive I can, every positive I can find on this football team, to get them better. Now, I can dwell on the negative all day, but that's what everybody else does for me. So I prefer to go out and see what I can do to make it better, what I can do to improve, improve myself and my staff." Coach Marinelli.

He would have to. The Lion's defense has been "invisible" all season.

I'll give Marinelli some credit. He sure as hell remains positive about the situation. Maybe he can find a gig as a motivational speaker once his coaching career is over.

Bears beat the Saints.

If Chicago can squeeze out the Vikings for a division title, how much credit does Lovie Smith deserve?

A team that, IMO, may be one of the worst division-title winning teams of all-time, somehow edges out teams that are a bit more talented.

Worst Division title winners?

That has to go to the Cardinals in my opinion.

The Miami Dolphins, a year after winning ONCE, will finish no worse than 9-7, assuring them a winning record.

Incredible.

BTW, you think Miami regrets sending Jason Taylor to the Skins?

Why on earth did the Titans not go for the fieldgoal at the end of their game with Houston? Their kicker was four for four and they were in range. Houston would've had barely under two minutes left and hadn't done much all afternoon. Bad call. :down

The Cardinals are who I thought they were.

Yeah, but at least they are IN the playoffs, unlike some other teams that are more highly talked about (Packers).

Maybe we'll have a Cardinals/Panthers REMATCH in the Divisional playoffs?
