NFL 2007-08 Season

Hey Paul....this week.....

OAKLAND vs DETROIT

This game should have been the KICKOFF CLASSIC! Salsa, got your Raiders gear ready? Raiders are a 2 1/2 pt. favorite. I'll be watching until the Lions fall 14 pts. behind.

God help us all. Never before has such football ineptitude been matched.:D

DETROIT LIONS - REBUILDING SINCE 1957!

Peyton Manning and the Colts sure had their way with the Saints last night. Can see why the Colts let that CB go to New Orleans, that guy sucked. He gave up 3 TD's and about 150 yds. Meanwhile the Colt Defense shut down the NFL's no. 1 offense.

I agree with your statement, however, the part about being the # offense is highly suspect. Offense and Defensivley, the NFL determines the #1 as the team that runs up the most yards and allows the least amount of yards.
I disagree with that thinking, Most yards on D* perticularly.

I thing that distintion should go to a team that has the best in a number of catagories.

Troy Akiman has a formula that he has devised that uses alot of different things to determine the top D*.

He has talked about it for several years now, he had it in The Sporting News last year.

btw, I am not a Cowboy fan ...

Kickoff Classic ???
The NCAA's do that, maybe they could play against some better College teams , maybe not !!!

I'll watch the Bears and Chargers .... till the Bears fall behind by 14 pts ! and swap between the Lions and this game.

btw, the loser of the Oak / Det game is "On the Clock" for the 1st pick next year ...

The LIONS better take Brian Braum from Louisville.

No. no. no, Jimbo. This is the McFadden sweepstakes. Kitna will do just fine, wish I could say the same for our defense, running game, offensive line, ah hell the only position we seem set at is WR. This will be one ugly freakin' football game. The perfect follow-up to the Michigan disaster. If Cecille B. DeMille ever did a movie about football, it would probabily look like tommorrow's game.

You mean Michigan disaster II !!!
Sorry Paul ...
I have to check in with my buddy down the street to make sure he has not found a bridge yet ! He wasn't home earlier, so the jury is still out with him.

You guys overreact WAY too much.....LOL!! 16 game season and you guys are talking about the 1st round draft pick for next year....???

Which NFL team do you follow ????

The Loins and Raiders are always in the hunt for the 1st several picks, they will stay that way until Millen is gone and we get a real GM in there, it would be nice to have a NFL proven GM sometime in my lifetime.

MCFadden would be a good choice too, but I think the Lions are counting on Kevin Jones for a long time to come.
Have they EVER had a top notch QB (That isn't ready to retire).

I am also a huge Denver Bronco fan, do you know what channel I can find the first game against buffalo. I am new to Dish and do not want to miss the game. I live in Jacksonville Fl, so know the local cbs channel will show Jaguars vs Tenn.
Appreciate any help, so I won't miss game.
Brother is also an Oakland Raider fan, so if you happen to know what channel that game is on too, that would be great.

Thanks.

I am a Raider fan....no doubt about that. And they are not ALWAYS in the hunt because we played in the Super Bowl not too long ago(2003). And I assure you that the Raiders WILL complete for the Super Bowl WAY before Detroit will.

Let's see...we had Greg Landry, he was the last pro bowl QB from Detroit (1971). We also had.....aw forget it, we haven't had anybody worth a sh*t here since Bobby Lane (1957) when we last won a championship. (REBUILDING SINCE 1957!) We have drafted many high profile QB's that we either ruined or were overrated to begin with. Chuck Long, Harrington, and Andre Ware, come to the front of my mind. I may have a forgotten a couple more. My point is they may have been good when they got here, but they weren't when they were here, and some were never good again when they left here. Detroit is where coaches and QB careers go to die.

This may be the biggest game of the season for the Detroit Lions. If they can't beat the Raiders, who can they beat? They have to win today if they have any hope of being even "respectable". Of course the same is true for Oakland. Looking ahead the Lions play in Green Bay, where they haven't won since Favre got there. They play a game in Minnesota, another place they haven't won in for pretty much my whole life, they get to go to Chicago (another loss, for obvious reasons), and get to play in Washington, where they have NEVER won. Please note that these are not the immediate games, but we do play these games this season. All said, I'm still hopeful that I'm wrong about this team.

GO LIONS! (What do you think of that Ramy?)

Broncos nail-biter

After what was a typically post-Elway frustrating Broncos game, with Jason Elam missing TWO field-goals, what an amazing end.

The Broncs forces the Bills to 3 and out with 2 1/2 minutes; they then run the ball to Elam range with 12 seconds left, and no way to stop the clock. They rush the field goal team on the field, and start the play with 2 seconds to spare, and Elam kicks it right down the middle to win the game, 15-14.

Unbelievable. It was an ugly win, and gave me way too much heart-ache, but I'll take the W any way we can get it. :D

I see them splitting with the Vikings and GB, possibly winning on the road, but not likely, GB is no better than Detroit.
Washington is NOTHING like they were back when they played last, if's a possible win.

As for QB's you mentioned, I never thought Ware was any good.
Long was stiff , couldn't move around, Harrington, I liked Joey, I think if he had went with a good team he could still be a good QB. I don't consider Miami to be any better and Atlanta, who knows... I would like to see Joey have a good year down there ..... then I looked at todays game and doubt that, that will happen either.

Its tough being a Lions fan. I never though I would say this, but I miss Wayne Fontes' and Scott Mitchell's '96 season.

Ugh! And I was stuck watching the Pitt-Cleve semi-annual massacre. I'm so gonna have to call Dish to schedule a "move" to Denver. I really hate listening to the game via KOA radio's webcast.
