NFL 2007-08 Season

Well you know you're playing great football when you go to play the undefeated NFL Super Bowl champs in THEIR house, and you are the favorite. My money will be on New England, but you would think INDY would get a little more love than that. This should be a great game. Two spectacularly great teams, in what should be the best game of this season, including playoffs. (At least until they meet again in the AFC championship game!)

early in the week, NE is a 4 point pick

Try this on for size - Washington lights up Detroit, by over 30. New England steamrolls over Washington by 45. So the question is - How many stops did the bus driver make? Just kidding- where does that leave the Detroit Lions?

In all honesty it does not leave the Lions well off. The majority of the roller coaster season we are seeing with teams having highs and lows, and losing to opponents they should not while beating opponents they should not, is due to all the injury's this year. Especially at Running Back, and in the secondary. The only exception to that is the Ram's who just flat out suck.

Other than New England, and Indy, there does not seem to be one team not beaten up from injury's. And what it does is allow teams like the Lions and Giants to have season's like they are.

The Lions have proven me wrong this year. In the last five seasons, I have been dead on with predicting how many regular season wins they will have once the third pre-season game is done. I said no more than four wins this year. (I am glad they proved me wrong).

However, I look for the Denver game for Detroit next week to be interesting. And I do not think the Lions can beat Green Bay once this year... and they still need to play them twice.

I think it leaves them 5-2 and 3-0 in the division, somewhere they haven't been in ages. AND they're playing in the NFC. They can make the playoffs, not that it really matters who makes the playoffs in the NFC.

Actually, both teams have had significant injuries (or suspensions, Rodney Harrison), especially the Colts. They beat the Bucs without 5 key players and have won the last two weeks on the road without at least a couple in each game. Can't blame injuries, they're just both WAY better than everyone else right now.

...Why....because they have run up the score on everyone?
Until they suck or are ousted outta the playoffs....the BEST team is the defending Super Bowl champion until someone proves different.

I just feel that NE is playing better all around ball at this time, their Defense has come to play this year as well.
Indy may be ahead by the end of the year, we'll see :)

Being a Steelers fan I expect that the Steelers will end up playing one of them in the playoffs somewhere down the line.

On the contrary....the Patriots' D is no where near as good as...OMG, I cannot believe I am saying this.....as the Colts' D....AND, do not let this weekend's game be any indicator of who is the better team, regardless of who wins. The true indicator with be in the playoffs.

"Brady Bunch" will be cancelled, and replaced by "Peyton Place".

I noticed that also., but it could be that NE IS better at this moment in time.

No, it's because they LOOK better right now - there's a big difference between that and who IS better. We'll find out...

NE hasn't played anyone except the Cowboys - the Chargers were playing terrible when they played and the rest of their schedule was pretty much crap.

I'm not saying they're not good... they are, and they might win on Sunday, but I don't think you can look at their performance so far vs. that of the Colts and really say that they're better.

Easy guy, ..... Relax

IF you notice I said : I think NE is better AT THIS TIME, that doesn't mean they will be when the playoffs get here, I never said THAT.

fwiw, Indy has only played a few teams I would consider good, none that are great...
They have played Denver, N.O. and Jacksonville and I cannot say any of them are really very good this year ...

NE. has played ONLY Dallas that is any good, .... they played SD but they were not good at the time they played, I do expect SD to get thier game together and be in the playoffs, they are showing signs of coming around.

I don't know about everyone else, but I am getting sick of the sports media... particularly ESPN, (which in my opinion has become a bad media outlet for all sports), talking about how "New England is running the score up", and their disgust by it.

Even Dan Marino on HBO's, "Inside the NFL" was saying it was bad class for Belichick and New England to be "running the score up".

Personally, I believe it is not the offenses job to keep the score at "reasonable" level. And who defines what is reasonable. This is the NFL. The Lions put up 34 fourth quarter points against the Bears in week two to come back and win the game. So is it New England's job to make sure they are 35 points ahead of their opponent, and then they have to ease off so Marino, and other sports writers and broadcasters are happy with their "class"???

It is the defensive coordinator's jobs of New England's opponents to keep New England's offense from scoring. It is not the job of New England's offensive coordinator, Bill Belichick, or Tom Brady. Their job is to score as much as possible. But you do not hear one sportscaster, Dan Marino, or any ESPN analyst ragging the Defensive coordinator, or defenses of any NFL team for allowing New England's offense to score as much as they are... nope, its New England who is the bad guy.

I am by no means a new England fan, but my goodness. Why the heck is New England the team to hate for phenomenal job they are doing? I heard nothing but praise about Indy's offense two years ago when they were blowing teams out of the water by high scores and Peyton's touchdown record breaking season.

Dan Marino, was a heck of a quarter back, but as an NFL analyst... well... lets just say it is no wonder he did not win a Superbowl with some of the philosophy's about the game he has.

I still enjoy ESPN, but I do agree with the over saturation with the NE / Indy game , I'll be glad when it's over.

Like Bilicheck said, He puts his offense out to SCORE points and his D out to stop the other team and his punter out to Punt !!!!

Now, it's not his fault other teams are not stopping them.

Hey Joe, haven't you figured it out? Everybody hates a winner. Think MICHIGAN!

Hey Joe, haven't you figured it out? Everybody hates a winner. Think MICHIGAN!

Nobody's hating Indy. So that logic does not line up here.

Here is what I believe happened.

Billichek got caught video taping opponents hand signals. He got caught... the other 50% of the teams in the NFL that do it did not. If you think Billichek is the only one doing it your not a person with intelligence enough to be on the internet reading this post.

So Billichek gets caught, and instead of rating out anyone else who does it by stating in a press conference, "Hey, I got caught doing what is not an uncommon thing in the league", he turns it around. He takes his team and puts them on the field week after week since that Jets game and proves he does not need to video tape, or cheat on anything to get an edge. I actually respect the man for not making this a big issue in the league the way the MLB players did with steroids. As soon as one MLB player was evidently proven to be guilty the names started dropping left and right of who was on the juice, and players were being summoned before congress. The same thing could have happened here if Billichek dropped a name or hint of anyone else doing this in the NFL, and it would be all we would hearing on Sports Center for the next 8 months.

As I said before. Two years ago, Indy was "running the score up", and Manning was staying in games he could have been pulled from, but there was no speak of controversy on Indy's offense for running up scores. All you heard about was how Manning could break Marino's Record. This year New England is on pace to break a lot of offensive records as a team, and individual players... but they are bad guys because they are running up the score.
