Did you buy Dish / Motor as a package? Not all Dishes are compatible with motors.
Although, I think you may be OK once you get your motor pointed south(parallel to your "purple" line in Pic)

Did you buy Dish / Motor as a package?

Yes, this is the exact package I ordered:

Sonicview 360 Elite PVR Satellite System

I do not see how it can be done to make it elevate past 31/32 degrees based off of the bracket. I'm going to be pretty upset if they aren't really compatible with each other since they are selling them together like this.

I doubt it is this though because I am looking at the pole that comes with the dish and this (without motor in picture) would have the same limitations as it is always eventually going to run into the same thing as the motor pole is.

I have to be pretty close and I'm thinking it's the elevation because I can hit the EchoStar3 and something else on the right side pretty easily, so it must be that it needs to be elevated higher as I would expect it to slowly decline when the motor moves it left and right.

I will be extremely when I finally see a picture on my screen! ha

Looked at your pictures. Your latitude on the motor bracket is set at thirty two degrees. Then your dish should be set at 24.8 degrees not what you show which looks like six degrees. Also I have the same dish and yours is not put together correctly. That upper bolt does not stick out like that you have circled in red.

I thought someone on here had same equipment i did, just forgot who it was. I should've updated all the pictures, I have since updated my settings because Lak told me awhile back what they should be. I currently have latitude set at approximately 29 (supposed to be 28.6 I think). So once I have it set like this, the highest I can elevate is at 32 degrees. It's possbile that this upper bolt is causing me to lose a few degrees - but it would still hit around 35 max. Does yours have this same issue? Can you show me a close up picture of your setup so that I may compare with mine?

Thank you.

I think Iceberg has a Winegard 76 cm and a SG2100, but his latitude may be much different from yours. Still , I think it might be useful if he looked at your motor/dish elevation pic posted and seeing if that looked at all like his setup.
:)

Excuse me but you did say you think your latitude should be 28.6 degrees. That sounds odd. Do you really know what your lat and lon are?

I'm at 45N so the motor is at 45 and the dish is set at 23

when I checked your info on Sadoun's site I get

motor latitude 28.6
decline of dish 4.8
dish elevation 25

see below pic

So looking at his picture, it looks as if the edge of the metal is to line up with the markings (as opposed to the center of the bolt) if that is true then no problem setting the dish at 24°. So should work as pictured.
I wondered about the head of the carriage bolt as well - is it in backwards? Something is not right with it.

I too agree that the bolt is not put in correctly as it shouldn't be hanging like that- just didn't think it would cause any issues so I hadn't really thought about fixing it. I will definitely fix that so at least I can clear that out.

I had same info as Iceberg gave me and that's why I have latitude at 29 and haven't changed that. I had the elevation at 25 at dish and that worked for EchoStar3, so I was told to make it higher to be able to hit 82W (Nimiq2). I went all the way up as high as I could (approximately 31/32 degrees) and still cannot hit it. I can easily hit EchoStar3 as I move it around, but it seems like I can't get anything on Nimiq2.

When you use a motor there is no reason to change the dish elevation to hit a different satellite - the motor does that for you! So your dish will always be set at or near the 24° mark - for ALL satellites.

Hmm...well I can hit EchoStar3 with perfect quality but of course the channels are scrambled. I'm really just trying to hit one so I can them move around to the others using motor. I really don't care how I get to that end, but would like to be able to watch a show soon lol

I believe I was around 25 when I hit EchoStar3, but I have moved that dish around a ton and cannot hit anything around where Nimiq2 should be so I'm just stumped at this point.

Talk about aggravating...I got up there and fixed the bolt issue so now I can get it moving pretty high up (around 40 degrees). I then took away some bolts so I could freely move it around and I'm hitting the 77mark again and it sure looks like i'm at a different angle than I was previously (more like I would be hitting Nimiq2) and I do a "scan TP" for the strong one of 12224 and it over and over again says failed. So, i decided to do a "scan Satellite" since I assumed this would be scanning only the satellite I had selected. Instead, it looks like it does a scan of the actual satellite I'm hitting because I'm again hitting EchoStar 3!!! It's so aggravating because it sure does look like i'm hitting the right one but the channel listings is still showing the channels for EchoStar3 found here (DISH Network on EchoStar 3 & Rainbow 1 at 61.5°W - LyngSat). I will continue to play with it, but this receiver sucks in the fact that it does not have any audio to it when it is finding satellites and it won't let me strictly search the satellite I selected. Why would it do this, wouldn't "blind scan" be the one for that option instead? It seems that the blind scan is doing the same thing as a "Scan sat" which doesn't seem right at all.

Anyone have the SonicView 360 Elite and care to respond to this?

Appreciate everyone's help!

What is the "77 mark"?
To fix the Bolt issue, did you re-assemble the Dish?
If so, I would start over, Dish elevation at 25 and Dish pointed Due South(parallel with your roof line)
If there is a Radio Shack near by, they sell a cheap Satellite Finder, about $12, that may help.

A "Sat Scan" usually means the receiver will use the existing TP List to find channels.
A "Blind Scan" would find TPs and Channels not in the existing TP List.

I think this video sums up my feelings right now....

YouTube - Dancing Fat Kid

Hallelujah!!!!

Ok i finally hit Nimiq2!!! When I hit it, the quality actually went up - first time i've actually seen that!!! So, then i had to save that spot and rescrew everything back in and it took me another 15 min to find it again! haha

The angle does not seem right, but it definitely hit because I see all the right channels. So, now the young paddowan needs to know what to do next.....

If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try, try, try, again! haha

Thanks everyone for your help so far, much appreciated!

After further inspection, when I do a "scan TP" for 12224 it quickly starts pulling up list of channels for Nimiq2 - starting with Cool, Punch, etc which are showing up correctly on this list: Bell ExpressVu on Nimiq 2 at 82.0°W - LyngSat. But, when it finishes scanning the TP - it says "failed" for some reason and the channels do not get added. Anyone know why this could happen? Currently i'm at 66 Signal and 47 Quality (never had more than 0 previously for Quality).

Thanks in advance.

Both the Nimiq Sats are ment for Canada, subscription only no need to worry about the scan failing.
Take your time and get the Highest Quality on Nimiq2, then it's time to add the Motor and Switch.
Power Off(unplug or switch in back) the Receiver before connecting any Switch!!!!!!!!

Receiver--------------Motor----------------Switch Port 1---------------------"L" LNB
.........................................................................\----Port 2----------------------"C" LNB

In the Dish Settings Menu, look for a Sat named one of the following(it's at 74west):
Galaxy 17
SBS 6
Horizons 2

LNB - Standard
LNB Freq - 10750
DiSEqC - Port 1
Transponder - 11733 (or 11734) if it is not there, read the Manual on how to add it.
Motor - USALS (remember to enter your Latitude(North) and Long(WEST)

Get receiver to Drive Dish to Sat. and watch for Quality or Scan.
