New Software Updates Discussion Thread

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

5/7/2008: 1000 Software Version L4.38 for ViP 211/DISH 411

Effective Thursday, May 8th, Engineering plans to spool a PARTIAL PHASE of software version L4.38 for the ViP 211/DISH 411 receiver. This is primarily a non-forced maintenance release available at ALL satellite locations.
At this time L4.37 and L4.38 will be the valid software versions for the ViP 211/DISH 411.
By your silence, I take it this firmware didn't go out today as planned.

L289 for the 942 in the stream today, but L289 is the current version released 1/30/07. ???

I started doing this in Aug of 2007 so my logs don't go that far back.

This one is the one released on Friday:

PID: 0892h, ID: 1ECC, FW: L289, Model: DVR942.

PID=0892h

DownloadID:'1ECC'
Upgrading FW:
'L289': 'AAA1'- 'BZA7' 'L050'- 'L288'
'NONE': 'AAA1'- 'BZA7' 'L050'- 'L288'
'1611': '1[0-6]1[A0]'
'AAA1'- 'BZA7' 'L050'- 'L289'
New FW:'L289'
List of BootStraps and BuildConfigs:
'1[0-6]1[A01]' 'MA[BD-FHJK][A-DJ]'
IRD Model: DVR942
List of Serial Numbers:
[2] 1-4000000000

This one is from Aug 2007:

PID=0892h

DownloadID:'1ACC'
Upgrading FW:
'L289': 'AAA1'- 'BCM1' 'L050'- 'L288'
'NONE': 'AAA1'- 'BCM1' 'L050'- 'L288'
'1611': '1[0-6]1[A0]'
'AAA1'- 'BCM1' 'L050'- 'L289'
New FW:'L289'
List of BootStraps and BuildConfigs:
'1[0-6]1[A01]' 'MA[BD-FHJK][A-DJ]'
IRD Model: DVR942
List of Serial Numbers:
[2] 1-4000000000

Notice the difference in red. They just added to the range for the BootStraps.

Another oddity.

The 411 has always had the same s/w as the 211. Dish's software chart has L451 for the 211k.

Boba, don't forget to check other parts of FW filter - the ID, bootstraps, previous version, etc. That things could make the difference.

Is some one have 211k ? Could you post System Info to help distinguish it ?

PS. BTW, that posted info related to "DP411" as internal name picked from FW, not by marketing assignment.
Seems to me the internal model name from streaming data finally make a match to the "211k" name.

"RandallA, what will this do for the 625? I don't remember reading anything on it yet."

The only one that gets the release notes is Scott. Hopefully he will post them SOON. :)

I just basically see what I post in the updates thread. They use different names for their beta software so I know they're testing. They just release it to their beta software testers, so we won't see those until they're ready to go.
