Thanks! I do have two coax cables running from the LNB's. I have adapters connected to both incoming coax cables. I was told the new HR24 HD DVR receivers have the BBC's built in by Directv tech support.

You had an installer out and he put in this box for you?

This is most likely a 15 minute fix, if your house/dish/install is pretty standard stuff.

Yes, the installer put the HR24 in but he did not check the signals. He saw there was a picture and said everything looked good. What is dithering? I called Directv and told them my signals were too low. They are sending somebody to peak the dish. Can they do this without coming in the house? Thanks!

Dithering is the second part of the peaking process. It fixes 99 and 103. He may use a meter to aim the dish, but will probably want to come in the house to check a receiver and make sure you have 80's or 90's.

YEP. in other words the installer didn't do his job. big surprise there :mad:

I called the installer and he is coming out today to peak the dish. I hope he can do it correctly. We shall see. The HR24 is AWESOME. Thanks to everybody who helped me on here. You guys rock!!! I'll keep you posted.

:up

The installer finally made it out to peak the dish. He told me whoever installed the dish original did not do it right. It was not level. Here are the signal levels now. Please let me know if this is correct. 99c: tuner 1 - 80%
tuner 2 - 84%
101: tuner 1 - 98%
tuner 2 - 98%
103(ca): tuner 1 - 89%
tuner 2 - 92%
103(cb): tuner 1 - 79%
tuner 2 - 80%
110: tuner 1 - 90%
tuner 2 - 91%
119: tuner 1 - 97%
tuner 2 - 97%

the 103 and 99 are still a bit low but much better than before. this will make you more susceptible to rain fade

Is there any way to improve 103 and 99? I ran a system test and still get your dish needs to be aligned, diagnostic code 43-72-478. I know one of those is because a phone line is not connected.

Damn, second installer still didn't peak it real well. At least 90 is easily acheivable in most installs (unless trees or something is an issue). I hate to say it, but if they system test tells you it needs alignment, it still needs alignment. You will lose your HD very quickly in even light rain with readings in the 70's.

No trees, I did trim some over growth that looked like it could be causing trouble. I did that before the installer came back. He did hook his meter up. I think I need to contact Directv and request a different installer. I do notice lose of HD in light rain, GEEZ. I hope they can get these HD signals fixed!!!!!!!

I still had no luck with Directv contacting me via email about sending out someone who knows what they are doing! I can not use my cell phone at work and I told them to email me when they could send an installer. I'm losing my HD signals big time to rain fade. I ran another system/info test again today, diagnostic code 42-767. I told them I did not want the other installer or anyone from that company. I want a Directv employee who knows what they are doing. Can't a guy just enjoy his HD channels? GEEZ!!!!!

just called directv because its been almost two weeks and i haven't received a box to return this POS HR21 that i replaced with the HR24. turns out they never processed a request for a return kit.like i told the csr, if i don't do this they would easily charge me $500 for that HR21. and who knows how long it would've taken to get that money back. that box better get here quick!!!
