Regrettably, Wi-fi is one of those things that having it doesn't guarantee that you can use it. What works for Farmville and checking e-mail may not be what the doctor ordered for bringing Internet to MoCA in a world that is moving towards IPTV.

Most of my devices are connected via wi-fi. I have no problems with any of them.
2 TV's, 2 BDP's, 3 Rokus, 2 Revues, 1 AVR, 1 Hopper, 2 smartphones, 1 tablet, 6 laptops, 1 printer.
The only thing wired is my desktop PC and a web server
This looks like to me a new model w/sling and wireless. I hope it has 6 or more tuners and an ota tuner as well.
They are using 5 Ghz to try to avoid 'Microwave Syndrome'. Good move. My bet is they are going to officially support Hopper/Joey over Wi-Fi via a point to point 5 Ghz wireless link that does not require a home router at all. Hopper would be the WAP, Joey the only allowable client. It's dual band, so they could use the 2.4 for traditional home network connection.

I wouldn't mind having a a 6 sat tuner hopper with 2 ota built in module and wireless. The sling thing I don't care about ,especially if it was as bad as the 922 was with it's built in sling. But having ota built would be great . I think it would work better than the usb tuner that can be finicky at times. The less moving parts or additions the better. Then all you do is plug it in and set the password for wireless, sat coax and antenna and your all set.
I know all of us here love having OTA with our receivers but it's not a smart business move for Dish to do it. It would just be an added cost for them to put it in and I doubt if even 40% of Dish customers would use it.
I'd bet a lot less than 40%. The SD only markets and geeks like us are the drivers for OTA. SD only will be going away SOON, and despite all the furor over sub channels here, most folks don't care.
Well I wonder how many people actually care about blue tooth in the over all DISH sub numbers? I am betting it isn't many. I doubt anyone uses that many of the new applications like "what's hot" either,but they are included with the hopper. Ota is still used widely by those who want it and as long as there are sub channels that DISH doesn't carry , they should still support ota. Having a built in tuner for ota would be nice and would make it plug and play. Now that is what you want in a flagship sat receiver. The built in sling ? Never worked as good on the 922 as the usb sling on the 722k and I don't know if built in sling would work any better on the new hopper.
The majority of sling issues boil down to connection problems or network issues. Granted there are and were some bugs or issues with the DRA app and Dish Online, but it has always worked well for me and the good majority of people who use it.
DO has been working better than DRA for me and my Hopper, of late. But, it used to be the opposite experience, the same as yours.
I don't think we will ever see a 6 tuner hopper unless Dish figures out how to make it all run on a single coax cable.
Many of us on the boards say 2 cables is not an issue, but the fact of the matter is that when the first dual tuner receivers came out and required 2 cables there was a high percentage of new connect cancellations due to customers who had pre-wired homes not wanting a second cable ran outside of their house, or where in situations where a second cable was just not possible.
They could license the SWM technology from Directv, but I don't see that happening

2 Hoppers = 6 tuners. What a concept... Two cables doesn't matter since they're at two different locations. Besides, that's 1 more tuner than the standard "Genie" setup these days (not to mention PTAT...) DirecTV is now copying Dish. So I guess Dish did something right, regardless of what the naysayers on the forums say...

For a very biased reason, I would like to see something like SWM for Dish. My trailer was wired to only bring two of the roof dishes coax feed into the trailer. I am considering a second Hopper by running a third cable from the roof oi==into the trailer vetoes that idea. And understanding with the current Dish multiplexing technology built into the dish heads that only handles two signal streams per wire, a 6-tuner Hopper would still require 3 cables.
Just put the dual node outside with the dish, and you can have two Hoppers inside fed via two cables.
