Actually, it looks like the firmware sight is showing 1037 as the current software after 7am, so if ya like the 1037 better, its still available as a normal d/l.
So, 1088 for EARLY d/ls and 1037 for later.
No, what Techiefan is pointing out is that the former CE 1088 has now replaced 1040 as the new NR rolling-out between 3-7 AM EST M-F.

So now there is no current CE version.

He never said 1037 was no longer available between 7-3 AM EST M-F. Or weekends minus the two CE windows.

Correct to the point there is no new released CE, I am sure our good friends at DTV have a CE in the hopper but didn't release it last weekend for some reason, maybe a week off or needs more work.
 
I think the logos are gone maybe for ever. Personally I would be glad to see themgone
Looks like that's the case, I think it was a low hanging fruit for DTV to speed up the guide. It's also possible the logos in the actual guide were causing other issues for the clients dealing with memory, speed and maybe a path for adding font size or color options. I am guessing here.
 
I finally got the guide the other day. Will take a little getting used to but I like it so far. Doesn't really matter as soon as all shows are watched I will be dumping DirecTV for Fios since they are finally in my area. So have to get used to a new interface anyway.

Ok, but be forewarned though ...

As cable and FiOS TV are taking a beating right now on TCF and DSL Reports for very poor PQ since their transition to MPEG-4 over QAM.

For example ...

Poor Picture Quality - Verizon FiOS TV | DSLReports Forums

So good luck with that ....

I wonder if the reason big cablecos are dropping quality on TV is because they make no money or perhaps even lose money on many customers who bundle internet and TV? They charge nice high prices for either TV alone, or internet alone, but if you get both together it is not that much more than internet alone. Given that they are paying over $10 a month just for locals, even the low end packages aren't very cheap for them to provide anymore.

With net neutrality ending, maybe they don't care if they lose a lot of TV customers to streaming - they will be able to make money on both ends by shaking down the streaming companies for "priority" access to their network (i.e. sort of a mob deal where they tell the streaming companies "you better buy some protection against slow speeds")

Already running them side by side until everyone in the household watches all items on the Genie and I can't tell a difference in picture quality at all! Neither can anyone else in the family. And another plus is when a big storm pushed through here yesterday, Satellite was lost, FIOS was still on. Not going to miss that at all...
 
Another thing that is nice that I wished DirecTV had done was being able to see/delete/add any recordings or season series from the Web and/or the App on the Phone.

Good point, although if a pole goes down, you are likely out of FIOS until it's repaired. If you have a generator, Directv remains up and running after the storm.

You don't necessarily lose power because a pole came down and took the cable line down.
True, but if a pole comes down, the power company generally shuts off the power to an area in order to affect repairs.

My point was that the line could snap in the weather or a tree take the line down .... then wait from 1-10 days for the repair dept to get there to give them service again ... remember the person that line busted in the weather is not the only one in town.

Where as if he had Sat service, he would have service back once the storm passed. :)

Funny you say that, the power did just go out three days after I got it because a tree came down on the power lines, FIOS was still up because it is underground in my area, but once my UPS's died it was all gone as was DirecTV....

Still funny how people in that other forum are bashing FIOS picture quality, maybe my eyes are bad or something, but it looks no different to me on the same TV.

Anyway, enough about that in this thread.

Like I said, I like the new Guide and menus.

Ok, when the gardner puts a shovel in the ground and cuts your line, or worse yet Nicks the line and it has trouble whenever it rains now .... those are the hard ones . :eeek

Rain fade is multiple little outages over the course of a year, but it might total less than one long outage for your internet when some jackass with a backhoe doesn't dig in the right spot (or the people who were supposed to mark the utilities didn't do their job right)

Guess it comes down to whether you would rather lose your TV for a few minutes at a time, or all evening once a year (If you are lucky enough to have an ISP that is only out once a year...my VDSL is pretty reliable - I could get cable internet for less but multi hour outages happen every couple months for them!)
 
Wouldn't they send out the cable truck at the same time electric truck to repair the lines at the same time if a pole gets knocked down by a storm.

Usually doesn't happen that way as you may typically have 3 different companies involved with the pole .... Edison, Phone Company and Cable Company, very rare to get all of them out at the same time.
