NCAA Football 2014 season

There are going to be three top 15 matchup games involving just SEC West teams this weekend.

That has to be a record.
I was right.

First, No. 6 Texas A&M visits No. 12 Mississippi State in what will be a sea of maroon and cowbells. Then the action heads 100 miles north to Oxford for an even bigger showdown: No. 3 Alabama at No. 11 Mississippi.

Later that night, No. 15 LSU visits No. 5 Auburn. It's only the fifth time any division has had two games featuring Top 25 matchups on the same day, and the past two times it has featured SEC West teams, according to STATS.

No division has ever had a trifecta of Top 25 matchups.

Looks like the sec network, the network that would not get any marquee matchups get a top 15 game for the morning broadcast.

Gosh I can't wait for Saturday. This is the biggest weekend for college football in the history of the state of Mississippi. And I imagine they are going to lay a goose egg.
The only reason Miss St. is highly ranked is because they beat an overly ranked LSU, and have played pretty much no one else.

It's like that one year when Vandy & Kentucky were both undefeated and ranked when they played each other, but then got into conferernce play (or at least non 1-AA opponents) and each proceeded to lost 5 or 6 straight.

The cowbells will be sent back to reality soon enough.

I have a feeling so will Ole Miss.

LSU had their dose of reality two weeks ago, but I'm curious to see what Brandon Harris will do as the starter this week in Auburn. Heck of a time for a true freshmen to start, especially having no defense to back you up. Could get ugly for my Tigers.

I disagree ... its the FAKE injury in that situation that needs to be addressed.

If a player is legit and hurt, needs a play or two off and then he's fine, thats one thing, but like you said, an injury just to stop the clock and allow substitutions is Not right.

Now see this is where it gets hard to judge this and why you have so many wondering if someone really is hurt. If you are hurt then fine but you must stay off the field for a period of time set for EVERYONE so there is no question. If you make that rule then people won't be faking injuries and won't care if they are hurt cause well they are really hurt. So you have to make a rule/policy to cover everyone and all situations which I feel in this case should be done. I bet we see this type of clock time run off of a player being hurt very soon much like what would happen at the end of the game but for just each that come off due to injury that stops the clock.

For the sake of safety (and coincidentally prevent cheating), any player who's injury stops play should be removed from the game for 15 mins. to allow the team staff to properly evaluate the players condition.

Funny. I'm thinking could get ugly for my Tigers. Offensive line has problems up until now. Both linebackers could be out also.
Will be fun to watch either way.

Could always institute the NFL's rules to prevent fake injuries.

"According to the NFL rulebook, during the 2 minute warning, an injury results in a charged timeout. If the injured team has used all three timeouts, the first injury results in a fourth timeout being charged to the team with the injured player. What that means, in effect, is that the opposing team has one of its timeouts restored. So if neither team had any timeouts left, the team with the injury is basically given a pass the first time it happens, but the opposing team now has one timeout left.

Any additional injury timeouts result in a 5-yard penalty for delay of game, if the clock was running. If the clock was running and the score is tied or the team with the injury is behind, a 10-second runoff is also imposed."

15 minutes in Real time ?
Whose responsible for keeping that clock ?

OMG, anyone happen to be watching the Oregon vs Arizona game tonight ?

Oregon has topped themselves for the most hideous unis yet ...
They come up with something different, not necessarily good or bad each week.

They are Black and Pink ....

Every year they rank that Creampuff team and every year they getwacked by some nobody. I don't get it, voters must like to look at their pretty uniforms. The PAC12 is light in the pants. SEC SEC SEC

Interesting .... Oregon was up in the top 3 I think ... 1 loss, how far do they fall ?

A Non sec team, so theres No telling.

Haha. The same as a Notre Dame team would if it were to loose. Not far.

No matter. 1 loss will not eliminate you at this point. Will get you even with most of the field as most will have losses also.
It's still way too early to count everyone out with a loss.

No telling. With all the top 15 matchups this weekend, it could be a very different poll come Sunday. They have a good shot at not falling far at all. Or they could drop 5-8 spots. Lets remember that this loss was to an unranked team, at home. If they do drop a ways, it certainly wont have anything to do with them being in the SEC or not.

This is true. I look for the Ducks to drop at least one more though, probably 2, and most likely next weekend.

Hmmm, I thought people said Ohio State was OUT with 1 loss ?
