I have been reading that Michigan has put a nice class together as well. Hope it translates on the field :)

Unfortunately, they really needed to recruit a Top 5 head coach the past two iterations: the team should have appointed an interim coach in 2008 vice signing Rich "Let's see if I can steer the Titanic into that Iceberg because I am so way over my head" Rodriguez. Heck, they probably could have signed Jim Harbaugh if AD Bill Martin wasn't so completely clueless. Martin simply panicked after failing to sign Michigan alumnus Les Miles from LSU. Fast forward three kicked-in-the-pants years after 40+ winning seasons...as much as I like Brady Hoke, he's not going to get the job done at Michigan. I would love to keep him on the coaching staf - just not as the head coach.

If you were the Michigan AD would you try to sign Jim Tressel to lead the football program? Interesting thought. Michigan needs to focus more time and energy about how is leading the team vice who is playing on the field IMO.

Signing day is such an odd event for me and many other Philadelphians/Northeast US residents. Getting excited about high school students signing up for College is such a non event here. Interesting from my perspective for sure..

From the current rankings, (they vary from service to service) but it looks like Michigan has the 5th or 6th best class coming in. :)

Brady's doing nicely.

I think your being a bit harsh there ...
I think if you give Hoke time, you'll see that he'll do a fine job.

10 years ago, it wasn't covered very much, now it's getting great coverage and I would not be surprised if it becomes MUCH Larger in the next 5 years and possibly having a National Signing show on one of the networks.

OSU did well too :)

Yup, very happy with thier class, unfortunately you won't see how truly good it is for 2 years, once they get to playing on a regular basis, It seems that most of the guys recruited last year got significant playing time this year, some got alot of playing time while others not much.

Probably be the same next year.

That said, this years class on DEFENSE should get alot of playing time and hopefully become VERY GOOD :)

That's fairly true of it down here as well. Its bigger news now, and ESPN covers it all day already.

It's always had good local coverage here, as each high school goes in different half hour blocks with their announcements. Me, I personally don't care until they're on the field playing. it's nice to see where some of the local players are going, but I don't get into the recruiting news

For every 4 and 5 star player that hits, 3 to 4 miss. It's a number game. You want to have as many 4 and 5 stars as possible because you know that many will amount to little or nothing. IF you recruiting class is 25 coming in and most are 3, 4s and 5s.... you are in great shape.

Understanding these rankings are just an opinion and in the long run they mean little but this is the first time in a LONG time Big Blue Nation has been this excited about football recruiting. According to ESPN, UK is 36 out of 40.

It is a guessing game for sure, and there are some misses, but look at the top recruiting classes over the past few years, and look at the top ranked teams at years end over the period right after it. It seems to be on more than off (there are exceptions). Holds true on a national level, and even against conference peers.

Ah...but you proved my point. Alabama is a PERFECT example. National Champ 3 out of last 4 years because they have had more 4 and 5s than most anyone else. The more you have, the better chances of getting solid players. IF you have alot of 3 and 4s, your chances diminish.

The key shall always be, the more 4s and 5s, the better chances you have.

I was not trying to disprove it.

Oh, I know you weren't. As far as 'Bama, as long as they have a top 5 recruiting year every year, I do not see them slowing down.

But I will tell you one thing, as soon as this investigation bull5h!7 is done and Miami can start winning the Florida kids back, the only SEC that will have a chance at the south Florida/Florida talent will be the Gators.;)

You might be right but Stoops from Kentucky seemed to do well in Florida for Kentucky. I think 7 of the 14 he signed on Wednesday were from Florida. In the end, it will be about relationships and winning. Hopefully Stoops will be good at both.

I hope so too. :D

Online jail records show four University of Alabama football players have been arrested on charges including credit card fraud and robbery.
Records posted on the Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Department website show running back Brent Calloway was arrested Monday on a charge of fraudulent use of a credit card. Linebackers D.J. Pettwayand Tyler Hayes were charged with second-degree robbery. Defensive back Eddie Williams was charged with both fraudulent use of a credit card and second-degree robbery.
