Actually UNC would have won the Coastal this year.First time they have ever had the record to win it and can't claim it because of sanctions.

Well... technically yes and no. YES if they weren't under sanctions and NO because Miami was not. IF neither were...then yes, it was theirs.

I agree, an FSU-Clempson game would probably sell out.

Tech fans though aren't going, because our defense reeks and we shouldn't be there in the first place.

And that is ANOTHER thing I hate about these conferences now. TOO MANY team where they may not even play teams in their own conference. ALSO, I HATE this 2 division concept. The 2 best teams in a conference, case in point, Clemson and FSU, maybe in the same division. STUPIDITY lead by the greed of adding teams to bring in more money.

No conference no bigger than 10 team so they ALL play each other AT LEAST once and the top 4 records in the conference playoff for the right to represent each conference in the BCS auto bid.

DONE...END of story!

say what?? lol

UNC beat Miami and both had 5-3 records in the coastal. It's all a moot point now but it was a pretty darn good first season for Fedora. Now with a top 15 recruiting class coming in they have a legitimate shot of going to the championship next year.

AND its a short drive. I know that alot of big name schools "travel well". But when the game is only within a 3 hour drive...that does not count as "travel well" ..;)

Bama fans travel well anywhere (as do some other schools), but I was mainly talking about the distance. Bama to atlanta, it would be packed no matter who they played.

LOL! What I am saying is that though UNC won the Costal, they were ineligible to play post season. Miami was not. Miami declared THEMSELVES ineligible in either hopes of getting in the NCAAs good graces(...HA! As if they care) OR they know what is coming down the road as far as sanctions. SO Miami should be playing, but decided not to.

And YES, UNC had a nice season but remember that high school recruiting is a hit or miss. More times than not, those *** star recruits turn out better than those ***** recruits. AND seldom dose a bunch of freshman make immediate impact on a team. The REAL progress is the final 2 years of that incoming class.

Most of UNC's recruits are 3 star, anywho lol...If they can get some D to go with the O they will be really good next year.;)

I think so. I LOVE South Florida RB Giovani Bernard. Was a ***star and easily one of the better RB in the country...and ONLY a soph. There is no doubt that next year, the top 4 teams in the ACC will be Miami, FSU, Clemson and UNC.

What's the market price for an easy home win in college football? The Southern Miss Golden Eagles have made a deal to move next season's opener—a long-anticipated matchup against Nebraska in Hattiesburg—to Nebraska instead. In a letter between the schools' athletic directors dated last week, which was viewed by Deadspin, Southern Miss agreed to sell home-field advantage to the Cornhuskers for $2,125,000, which is almost exactly the amount Southern Miss owes to its newly fired football coach.
The contract, sent from Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne to Southern Miss AD Jeff Hammond, serves as an amendment to a three-year deal signed in 2008. It was officially signed by USM's president this morning. Here's how it reads:
The location for the game shall be changed from M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, MS to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE.
The visiting team (the University of Southern Mississippi) shall be paid a flat dollar guarantee of $2,125,000,00.

It won't when you're paying coaches $5 million or more a year. There should be some performance clauses in these contracts.

I can't think of a coach at that level that doesn't have that built in. Check the base salary of those it wont be $5 million. Nearly all would have bonuses built in for meeting certain goals that would get them to that peak.

The media will report it as "worth" five million.

Yes, I know that its there for escalating the payment, I'm talking about in terms of the buyout of the contract, should the contract be terminated.

This having to pay 2 million to get rid of a coach is what I'm talking about.

If they want to paid for succeeding, then on the other side, they shouldn't be paid for not succeeding.

I just wonder, are they paid incentives for making sure the players on their team keep up their academics?Or are they penalized if they don't?To me that should be a big factor but, sadly I bet it isn't.

Both sides signed the contract. If the schools are able to fire before the time side of the contract is up, then the coach should have something to protect his own interests.

Not saying that they don't get paid too much, but both aides should be protected if f both sides can get out of the signed contract.

It's not all the coaches fault.

Can Jim Tressel be hired as a coach? or was that a 5 year ban for him?

The way I understood it, he could in the NFL now, (he's already paid his 8 game ban or whatever the time frame was) which is a whole nother story for how they can do that in the first place, no one else has EVER had something like that imposed on him.
More ncaa making up things as they go along, kinda like NASCAR.

As for College, I think he can, but it needs to be OK'd thru the NCAA first.
