NCAA Football 2011-2012

Let's see how long it will last this year. I always take it down after the first loss (provided it isn't taken down for me by some Bucknut or UK hillbilly ;)). Last year was a new record for me up here in Ohio...lasted 8 weeks into the season! Hope it doesn't go down after the season opener.

Geaux Tigers!

Doesn't your HOA have covenants regarding tacky decorations. LOL

I swear I am surrounded by a sea of crimson and cream OU flags in my neighborhood. I think it's time to bring my buddy Pete out.

Pistol Pete is not one of my favorite mascots (and I don't like mascots in general). I drove up to Stillwater to watch A&M play baseball up there in 2002. I remember this series well because Phil Garner had just been fired as Detroit's manager. His son Ty was our starting 2nd baseman, and I met Phil and his wife Carol on this roadie. They could not have been nicer people.

Back to my story, during one of the day games, Pistol Pete made an appearance. He started doing his typical mascot clowning crap right between home plate and me. I let it go the first couple of times. At some point in the middle of the game, I yelled "Down in front!" Some of the OSU fans around me were getting pissed off as well. Keep in mind that I had driven about 7.5 hours to get to Stillwater. Well, ole Pete saw I was an Aggie, stood there, and gave me a thumbs down.

I yelled back to him "I'm not kidding, you jackass. Some of us want to see this game!" He moved.

Enjoy it while it lasts. All those teams can't be that good without handing out some sort of incentive to it's recruits. Don't worry though, I'm sure the SEC is next on the NCAA/Yahoo.Sports radar to investigate. ;)

It's not exactly like they've been ignoring us. Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, etc. have all been on the radar as of late.

As an Ohio State fan you would know better than most :D

Aggies notify Big 12 they intend to ‘explore options’ on league front | Aggies | a mySA.com blog
COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M has made its first official move outside of Aggieland in its plans to exit the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference. The Aggies on Thursday afternoon sent the Big 12 office in Dallas a letter explaining the Aggies are “exploring options related to the institution’s athletic conference affiliation.”

An A&M insider said the letter is simply the first official, legal step in the process of A&M exiting the Big 12 for the SEC. The Big 12’s directors board is scheduled to meet on Saturday, the insider said, and perhaps at that time release the Aggies from the conference. If so, the SEC would then be free in the days following to invite A&M as its 13th member, and the Big 12 likely would officially begin its pursuit of a 10th member to take A&M’s place – perhaps BYU, Notre Dame, Houston or SMU, among other candidates.

A&M’s letter to the Big 12 is similar to the process that Nebraska, now in the Big Ten, followed in its exit from the Big 12 last year (Colorado also left for the Pac-12, leaving the Big 12 with 10 members). In A&M’s letter to Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe, A&M president R. Bowen Loftin “indicated that if the university withdraws from the conference, Texas A&M would do so in a way that complies with the Big 12’s bylaws. Additionally, Texas A&M would be supportive of the Big 12’s efforts to seek a new member of the conference,” according to an A&M release.

Said Loftin in the release, “As I have indicated previously, we are working very deliberately to act in the best long-term interests of both Texas A&M and the State of Texas. This truly is a 100-year decision. While we understand the desire of all parties to quickly reach a resolution, these are extremely complex issues that we are addressing methodically.”

Didn't they explore and get rejected?

If you're referring to the SEC, they did not 'reject' Texas A&M. They just decided not to expand at this time. Very good chance Texas A&M will move to the SEC in the near future.

The SEC would love to have a team in a big market like Texas, and A&M would love to get out from under the Longhorns.
