NCAA Football 2009-10 Season

Got a question....

Say either Bama or Florida losses before the SECCG leaving one defeated and the other undefeated. If the defeated team then beats the undefeated team in the CCG leaving both with a loss, should either team be given a shot at the MNC against an undefeated Texas - or should an undefeated TCU/Boise St./Cincy get a shot at the title?

My conference ties aside, I would like to see the latter. :)

Well, if Florida loses to USC, FIT or FSU, then they don't deserve any chance at the MNC.
Same with Alabama losing to MSU or Chattanooga.

Agreed. But say Florida gets beat by USC and is still ranked in the top 10, then an undefeated Bama losses to them in the SECCG. Should Bama go before an undefeated Boise St./TCU/or Cincy?

Navy did it again, and the Irish-haters in the media and the blogosphere (cough Anders cough) are in heaven- then again, they never get credit for anything they do positively.

Not making excuses for the Irish, but Navy is A LOT better than most people give them credit for. They play good, old school fundamental ball. They run the ball down your throats and play pretty solid defense.

I'm just happy that the Big East has the chance to personally knock ND out of their bowl agreement for the year.

You could easily make the case that both Pitt and UConn will beat the Irish in the next 2 weeks.

Irony of ironies- after Ohio State wins a big game on the road, no sign of HD on here.

HUGE win for tOSU! Possibly, Terrelle Pryor's first defining game as a Collegiate QB? On the road, against a higher ranked opponent, in the land where he is from, but chose to go to the opposing state when he was heavily recruited in High School? I don't want to jinx him, but I think TP is growing up right before our eyes! The future is finally looking bright again for the young phenom!

BTW, the next 2 weeks will be a blast in Buckeye Nation! Win next week (Iowa) and we're going to our first Rose Bowl since 1997 and would secure the Big Ten Title for the 5th consecutive year! Oh, and then there's the last game of the season against that team up North!!!!!!! Oh, I can't wait!

Yeah, what was Pryor, like under 50% for 120 yards or so? I really hope that was NOT a defining game for him. I was hoping for a little more than that by now.

I watched the game until ABC New York pulled out late, and I was shocked at how bad Penn State is. Over-rated defense, and absolutely no offense. That is not a good football team.

The Buckeyes are sliding down an easy track right now, playing Iowa without Stanzi, their rival who has a big name but is even worse than Penn State, and probably an over-rated USC team in the Rose Bowl.

They can quite likely finish with two losses and a Rose Bowl win, and should still finish 10-15 in the rankings. Not Ohio State's fault that they'll play the biggest name in the sport twice when they are in a down year, but that's the way it shook out.

And Jim Tressel. Oh. My. God.

He is one of the best coaches in the country for approximately 8,700 hours a year. But for the 40 or so hours a year when they are actually in between the opening kickoff and the scoreboard reaching 0:00, he is pathetic.

Ouch, tough critic.

Like it or not, this WAS Pryor's biggest win of his early career. Think of the stage. On the road, in a hostile environment, against a higher ranked opponent. The Buckeyes needed a win to keep Rose Bowl hopes alive. TP played within himself.

This was a game featuring 2 of the Big 10's top defenses. Going into the game, the Buckeyes have allowed 105 points to opposing teams. The Nittany Lions, 84. All season! That's an average of 11 pts allowed per game for the Bucks and 9 for Penn State!

This wasn't going to be a game where the QB's slung the ball around like Drew Brees or Peyton Manning. It was going to be a game of ball control, running the ball, limiting mistakes, defense and taking calculated risks on offense. And that's exactly how we won. OSU out-rushed Penn State 228 to 76, the Buckeyes controlled the clock, the momentum and the scoreboard throughout in the dominant performance. And when it was time for TP to take a calculated risk, he connected on a 62-yard pass to DeVier Posey for his 3rd TD of the day. (2 passing, 1 rushing). But maybe most importantly was this: TP had ZERO turnovers. He played within himself and made plays when he had to.

If this isn't a defining game for TP, I don't know what it is.

I suppose I have different interpretations for 'defining moment' for Pyror, and 'defining win'. Difficult to argue this was Pryor's biggest win, since he hasn't had many big wins.

I think you may be right, actually, it's me who needs to re-evaluate my expectations for Pryor. He didn't throw the ball away, he didn't lose the game like he lost the Purdue game, so I suppose I should be happy.

I will not get hyped up over the team running over Penn State, regardless of the defensive stats they've accumulated against weak teams. They are not good. The elite offenses in the country would destroy Penn State, it would not even be a game at halftime.

The good news is the Buckeyes will play USC in the Rose Bowl, and not the loser of the Florida-Alabama game. That would be bad.

Tressel gets five weeks to prepare for a game, and as soon as he sees a new wrinkle, he's already unprepared and cannot adjust...

You really think Oregon's gonna collapse and the Trojans will still win the Pac 10?
