NCAA Football 2009-10 Season

I agree with you in respect to recruiting amongst the state. Central Florida and the north is Gator factory. The south is been pretty much FSU and Miami. This win over FSU can swing the recruiting war more towards South Florida. Now, until they beat Miami and FSU a couple times, they should not make a big deal of this.....but they are a rising program with THE richest recruiting hotbed for high school football players in the country.

Don't forget, FLA schools aren't the only ones recruiting there.
Some go to the major schools in FLA and would take that ride over SF and USC manages to get players from FLA as well as Ohio State and I'm sure theree are plenty of other schools that recruit heavily there as well, and you also have the guy's that want to "get away" to play outside of the area.

I agree, this is more about FSU reeking this year. Even Appalachian St. defeats Michigan once in a while, doesn't make them a power.

South Florida so far is nothing more than a flash in the pan. I'm sure everyone remembers their quick tumble after making it to #3 on an extremely easy conference schedule.

You're such an ACC shill, it's starting to make me ill. Seriously.

USF, in the last 3 years, has won:

@FSU
@Auburn
Kansas

But right, they're App St. Are you insane?

No, actually I prefer SEC football over ACC. Mostly because I grew up a Bulldog fan. Switched to Ga Tech because I went there, but the Dawgs still remain #2 for me.

But with USF in those 3 games you mentioned. FSU & Auburn reeked in those years, anyone could beat them (and did/have). Same for Michigan when Appalachian St. beat them. My analogy was how bad Michigan and FSU were in those games, and how neither should be used to say a new power has arrived.

As for the Kansas game, I don't really follow the Jayhawks, so I can't say how good or bad they were that year.

But when South Florida can beat a couple of ranked good teams on a consistent basis, then it'll be a different story, but for now it isn't.

Hell, I'd love for South Florida to be good, I lived in the Tampa area for 4 years as a kid, and wouldn't mind them being a great team. But they just don't have the history or a UFL or FSU yet.

Sorry, should have just cited you as an anti-Big East shill. My bad :D

You're just completely wrong on your comparison.

Pulled the final record for Auburn's opponents that year. Not exactly any impressive wins. Not a great team by any stretch of the imagination. The only team they beat with a winning SEC record was Florida. And we all know what happened to the Auburn team the following year.

As for Kansas, like I said, I don't follow them, but a quick glance shows they finished the year at 8-5.

Plus they seem to beat WVU every year. :D

Where's McCoy?

I was expecting him to talk about LSU's goal-line stand or that amazing punt return.
I missed the games this weekend - I was in Columbus taking the Harley new rider course. Birthday present from the wife. Big question now: When do I get the Harley? Lessons without a bike would be down right cruel. ;)

Back to the games. I watched the playback of the LSU game - whew! Pulled that one out. Chad Jones won that game in my opinion. Here's a nice picture of him knocking down that third down pass on the goal line stand:

Still don't know why Tyson Lee (MS QB) didn't just reach out and stick the ball over the goal line on 4th down. Anyway, fun game, but exposed how weak LSU's defense is. I thought Chavis was supposed to be a good coach. Maybe it's just the lack of talent. :confused: I agree the Tigers are overrated, and will more than likely drop big time after visiting Athens next week, especially with that defense. The Oline is sorry too - the Tigers' rushing stat for Saturday was 30 yards on 31 carries...what's up with that? I'm hoping the weather was a big factor in that game this weekend, but I have a feeling it probably wasn't. We'll find out what the real LSU Tigers look like next week. :)

Been awfully fun watching these other so-called top ten teams getting their arses handed to them. Guess all that talk about "the Miami Hurricanes of old" will go away. :D

WVU really tried hard to give that game away. They should have won by about 30, but called "fumbleaya, fumblerooski" too many times.

Yuck.
