NCAA Football 2009-10 Season

BTW, speaking of SEC QB's- your Tide are facing a guy who has a hot hand right now.

After what Mallett did to Georgia- be careful.
After what Georgia did to Arkansas's defense I think it's the Razrorbacks who need to be careful. This game won't be close.

Any team can have a bad game, and I can understand. This game is showing what I have said about ole miss though. Why the hype? It was based on ONE win last year. One, thats it... just hate the hype without the backup, and I am in the middle of it.

...Thing is, I am not just doing it now, I was doing it then. I never felt they were a top four team. Hence, overrated. Simple as that...

You can say the same thing for almost any team rated in the top ten right now. Who have Florida, Bama, LSU, Texas, Penn St. played to warrant where they are in the polls? Ole Miss was riding high this year based on a huge win in the Cotton Bowl last season over a possibly overrated TTech. And look what happened to OSU and USC. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Goes to show why early polls are ridiculous. They shouldn't be able to have the influence they do later on.

To be honest, the same thing could have been said about Alabama last year (and was by some of us who pay close attention to the SEC). Proved to be the case in the end.

To be honest, there were a lot of us who pay close attention to the SEC that felt that way about Alabama last year. We were proven correct in the end. I feel the same way this year about them, as well as LSU. Hope I'm wrong.
I can understand that, but If I may. We lost to the national champs in a very close game, and got our ass handed to us by the number 2 ranked, undeafeated Utah team. We finished number 6 if I am not mistaken. If anything, given what bama fans expected last year, we were underhyped. I for one expected 8-4 or so.

You were a minority then - most Bama fans I heard and talked to expected the conference championship the first year Saban got there, much less last year. ;)

The point I was trying to make is any team that finished strong the year before and had huge wins during the previous season - Ole Miss defeated the national champs and laughably stomped a poor LSU team in Baton Rouge (Bama needed an OT to pull out a win) - has just as much right to be ranked high in preseason polls as anyone else. Polls mean nothing until after the first few weeks are played out. This season is proving that once again.

Utah #2 team in the country...nice try coming up with an excuse for that perfomance in the Sugar Bowl last year. :up :D

Hey, we always say that we expect a national championship, but some of us are realistic. :)

A win is a win, a loss is a loss. I just did not feel that Ole Miss showed ME enough last year to justify the ranking this year. Yes they beat Florida, they also had some losses that they should not have had.

Lol, I felt before the game that we were the better team, most everyone did. Utah really suprised me though and totally outplayed us. Would we have beat them had they played again? Probably, but I aint taking anything away from those guys. They took care of business all year long.

BINGO!

I'll take it one step further - both of these teams really aren't THAT good (especially USuC), but get a customary bump from being in the SEC. Drives me bonkers, as even with -0- passing game, I'm confident my "middle-of-the-road" BE Huskies would have stomped either of these teams.

I agree with pretty much everything you say. Just picking at you. ;) :D After last night I don't know how anyone can predict what will happen in the SEC this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that LSU can come out of Starkville unscathed this weekend.

You better worry about how UConn will do when they face the Cincinnati Bearcats later this season.

Lol, its all good.

I know what you mean. SEC football, nothing like it:)

ROTFLMAO:D

I'm much more worried about Cincy. They would have wiped the field with either of these 2 teams, and very well may do the same to us, too.

Why? Besides the customary "OMG SEC FTW !!!11!!" bump, what have either of these teams shown that proves them as anything but mediocre?

Everyone seems to forget that Snead was a UT castoff, and possibly, just maybe, for a good reason.

Just like they stomped that ACC team... oops... ;)

We don't match up well with UNC - they're a version of us, but with a reasonable passing game. Our running game is better, though.

And hey, winning on a questionable holding call in the endzone for a safety, by your own conference's refs, isn't exactly something to hang your hat on.

An away win is good no matter how close the game is.

But was it questionable? I saw the replays, and the guy did hold.

Oh, I agree. Neither of them have really done anything so far, but by that same token, what has Uconn done to prove them as above the level of these two?
