NCAA Football 2009-10 Season

I am curious Jimbo....you got MY reasons why The U should be ahead of the 1 loss teams....why do you think Miami should not....?

I'm just not sure that they are (YET) better than them....
Just my opinion.

What makes Va Tech your choice ?
They got beat by Alabama and have not beat anyone else.

fwiw, if your outside of the top 15 and thats generous, your not in with the TOP teams.
Without Bradford, Oklahoma is overrated at 9

Personally, I thought The U should have been NO HIGHER than 13...MAYBE 11 at best....but definately NOT top ten until AFTER they could win their 1st 4 games.

The U jumped from 20 to 9. I personally think, the huge jump had alot to do with the a$$-whipping FSU gave BYU and USC losing.
I agree. i was also shocked to see them at #9. I thought they would be around #13 too.

How did Penn State get there?
Good question. ;)

Here's an interesting computer poll by the way:

Colley's Bias Free College Football Rankings

The Colley ranking method is based on very simple statistical principles, and uses only Div. I-A wins and losses as input—margin of victory does not matter. The scheme adjusts effectively for strength of schedule, in a way that is free of bias toward conference, tradition, or region. Comparison of rankings produced by this method to those produced by the press polls shows that despite its simplicity, the scheme produces common sense results.

Makes about as much sense as anything else. :)

Bucks do EVERYTHING they can do WIN convincingly (they were suppose to win by 21, not 200.) The Bucks were DROPPED because USC lost, plain and simple and that's just NOT right.

btw, Toledo is NO SLOUCH, they have a offense in the top 20 I would think and the Bucks shut them down.

The Bucks D shut down USC for 55 minutes, but appearantly that doesn't matter.

Every team Above OSU are undefeated. Except for 3.

USC (Obviously they beat the bucks) Oklahoma, Who lost by one point to BYU. and has 2 shut out victories so far. and Virginia Tech who went toe to toe with Alabama and lost and has since won two games including one against Nebraska.

So please why should OSU be ahead of any of those three teams? YOur certainly not suggesting they be ahead of any of the undefeated teams in the top 10 are you ?

Why is Miami rising for games they have not played yet ?
Everyone here is saying if they win these 4 games they should be top 3 but they have only won 2 so far and they are annointing them top 10 already.

They went up because of their two great wins so far. Beating an FSU team that CREAMED BYU That beat Oklahoma.

And btw OSUs win over Toledo.. They are not slouch but yet they get killed by purdue of all places..... Ya impressive. That would be like me hyping Florida because they beat Vanderbilt.

With your scenario, OSU can not move in front of USC all year regardless, so IF USC drops even farther, so will OSU ? Even if they get better and win out convincingly ?
If thats the case, any team that has a loss should just stop playing as thier season is clearly over.

Well yes. In order for USC to drop theyd have to lose. So if they lose twice then of course if OSU has only one loss OSU can then get ahead of USC. But until USC loses again, how can you justify putting OSU over them? There "strength of Schedule" are almost the same (execpt USCs is much harder playing more ranked teams)

OSUs season is not over. Its just no longer completely in hte hands of OSU. Nor is USCs season in their own hands anymore. Other people now have to fail for OSU or USC to move up.

I would have put Miami about where you said .... so far.

Your damn right I'm emotional, when you do everything your asked and still drop, thats not right.

OSU and USC could line up for the next 3 weeks and could go either way.
I thought the USC was a GREAT game., it could have gone either way , last years Texas game as well.

The Bucks are getting dumped on because of thier past, even though this is suppose to be a NEW season.

Florida got by Tennessee but not as impressivly as they should have, I bet they don't drop.

Why would FLA drop? They won the game, they were never in danger of loseing. They controlled the game. Tenn's defense kepts Flas offense from being explosive but they still out scored, out ran, out threw Tenn.

Its like OSU vs Mich. Tenn is a big rivalry game for FLA and teams tend to play harder and work more to win those games. Tenn played their ass off, FLA not so much. Tenn certainly wanted it more and prepared more, FLA seemed to look at it as an automatic win, sure they got the win but were not showboating in typical FLA fashion. But a win is a win and it was a complete win, but a win by a single score.

Oh, I wasn't comparing the two teams at all, just pointing out that when other teams win close games they are effected positivly, while the Bucks are not.

The Bucks could have beat USC and it would have raised them into the top 10 and then beat Toledo and they would have at least stayed where they were, possibly moved up seeing 2 others in the top 10 lost ....
I think I'm more concerned that they didn't move into the top 10 because two other teams lost, figuring that the Buck's won soundly you would have expected them to move into one of those spots.
Had USC won and another top 10 team lost, the Bucks would have moved into the top 10, thats where I'm coming from ....it seems like they will be tied to USC all year if this stands, so we can do no better than where USC is, unless they lose again.

Please if the bucks would of beat Navy by more then a last min effort, and beat USC they would be in the top 5.

and yes you guys are tied together. It only makes sense.

The USA poll is out and looks a bit more realistic, I thought that they mirrored one another but they didn't.

2009 NCAA College Football Polls and Rankings for Week 4 - ESPN

That ranking is a bit better. a few changes though. Miami should be ahead of all the one loss teams. and GA is to high.

I also think Penn over Ole Miss is an either or. Neither team has had to really prove themselves yet and that spot will get decided soon enough.

Miami beats Oklahoma and then moves into the top 10, Oklahoma should drop to 15 or so, Ohio State should move up with a win this weekend, but they probably won't.

If Miami beats OK and no other team in the top 10 loses, sure OSU should move up one with OK going in the back.

OU/Miami Gametime? Day? Night?

ABC is waiting until next Sunday to set a gametime for the Sooners/Hurricanes.

Game time for Oklahoma's Oct. 3 game against Miami will not be decided until Sunday.

ABC officials notified the Big 12 and ACC that they will invoke a six-day option and wait until after Miami's game against Virginia Tech to decide on the game time.

The two options still in play are 2:30 pm CT, or 7 pm CT. The game will be broadcast on ABC.

FLA vs LSU
Ole Miss vs Alabama

Mark this date in your calendar. It will be a huge day on the BCS rankings. Certainly one of the biggest weekends for the SEC this year.

Also noteable are Tenn vs GA and Kentucky vs S Carolina.

I wonder if 4 teams from the same conference, all ranked in the top ten have ever played each other on the same day before. Assuming they are all still at the same ranking of course
