NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

HD, if Ohio State were to play Texas Tech or Missouri in a bowl game, would that be a tougher task than playing an SEC team?

Jeremy Maclin and Michael Crabtree are far scarier players than anyone in the SEC, and Chase Coffman is the best TE in college football, only to get screwed out of the Mackey Award for a USC guy with lesser numbers just because he's a Trojan.

I really haven't had a close look at Texas Tech lately, so I can't comment on their ability to hang with the big dogs.

With that said, I can say that I like the Buckeyes chances against ANY team in the nation this year. And remember, we weren't even supposed to be national championship bound last year. This was the year we were supposed to make our run. We have a ton of starters returning and this team is sound on both sides of the ball.

And just so everyone knows, I am actually hoping that if we do make it back to the big dance, that we will be pitted against another SEC team. The Buckeyes have taken a lot of flack the last two years. A win would serve as redemption and huge payback.

If the Buckeyes get by USC, go undefeated this year (highly likely), and win the MNC against any team, those asswhippings they took the last two years will be all but forgotten. The fickle world of sports will see to that. :)

By the way, did anyone notice the length of Jesse Palmer's tie during the SC-NC State game last night? I'm pretty sure it was a clip-on.

N.C. State looked AWFUL last night.

Hard to believe they used to light up scoreboards with Philip Rivers.
You got that right. South Carolina was pretty bad too. How often do you see a team throw 4 ints and still post a shutout? South Carolina won't win more than 5 games this year. As for NC State, they may help dook actually win a conference game this year. :haha

Really ???
You really think that one win in the MNC game against a SEC team will shut the Ohio State bashers up ???
I doubt it, I figure they will be telling us Buckeye fans that were still to slow and must have got lucky.
Outside of yourself, I normally don't see much respect coming from SEC fans.

Jimbo, I agree with you, Buckeye fans will never get any respect from SEC fans, or Big 12, or Pac 10, or ACC, etc....that's just the nature of the game. What I meant was the media will turn in your favor. They're currently on the bashwagon themselves, but once the Buckeyes win another MNC, especially against an SEC team :)rolleyes:, just kidding ;)), they will change their tune, they always do.

By the way, I came close to seeing my first live tOSU game tomorrow, but the tickets my wife got from one of her vendors at work she decided to raffle to her subordinates. I think she did that on purpose (she's always on my butt during CFB season).

Will she at least let you watch the game ?

Anyone watching the SMU-Rice game on ESPN? The Owls are laying waste to the Mustangs, 56-20 at the end of the third quarter!

Also, I'm not off to a very good start in the College Football Challenge in the Satellite Guys group, I had Army beating Temple tonight. The Owls won that game, 35-7. I guess tonight is the "Night of the Owls"! :D

June Jones is already saying to himself, "WHAT HAVE I DONE?!"

Eric Dickerson is NOT walking through that door.
This is going to be the problem Michigan has this year. New coach, new system, terrible players. At least at SMU it's just more of the same. It's going to painful to watch Michigan play. I'm thinking they're going to look something like NC State did last night.

Unless your masochistic, DON"T WATCH. Stick to that national football power you have there in NC. Oh that's right, you don't have one.

Hey McCoyrj, the next time your wife is raffling off OSU tickets, let me know. I'd be plenty interested. It's tough to get tickets up here in Cleveland unless you know somebody.

I've been to 1 OSU game at the shoe before. It was the 2004 home opener vs. Marshall. The game was actually very competitive and close the entire game. Mike Nugent hit a 55 yard field goal as time expired in the 4th quarter to win it 24-21. The place erupted. The overall gameday experience in Columbus was the best live sports experience in my lifetime. I honestly don't think anything will ever top that day.....

I'll let you know HD, but you'll have to hire on with Fifth Third Bank to be part of the raffle. :)
